PlayStation Network Hits 1.3 Million Users

David Karraker has announced that the PlayStation Network now has over 1.3 million users worldwide, 600,000 of which are in North America. Also announced was the fact 3.7 million "pieces of content" have been downloaded from the PSN since last November, but there was no word on what they actually were (everyone loves them some GTHD, I'd say).

Those numbers are pretty interesting, in that they give a good idea as to how many PS3s have actually been sold to consumers rather than shipped to retailers. Sony say they've shipped two million consoles in North America. Yet only 600,000 are registered on the PSN. I'd guesstimate (call me on this if you think I'm off) that at least 60% of consoles sold would be connected to the internets (Microsoft had similar numbers this time last year). That leaves...a lot of unsold PS3s.
