Does anyone remember Psi-Ops? Anybody? William L. Crawford III does.
In 1998 he wrote a screenplay, Psi-Ops, about a soldier with paranormal abilities who fights terrorists with paranormal abilities (small world!). Cut to 2004, and Midway releases Psi-Ops, the game, about a soldier with paranormal abilities who fights terrorists with paranormal abilities. Thing is, Crawford had nothing to do with the game, alleges Midway stole the idea from him, and now he wants some money (1.5 mil) for his troubles.
I'll spare you the full comparison here (hit the link for that), but let's just say on the evidence currently at hand, Crawford's got himself a strong case.
Hurray for games writing! Are things really so dire Midway had to resort to stealing B-grade sci-fi plots from unrealised story pitches? Egads.
