The Sony Cat's PS3 Blog "Game"

Sony cat Toro (not Kotaku commenter, Toro-kun) has a download on the PlayStation Network. It's not really a game per se, but more of a talk show in the form of two cats in a tiny apartment.

Called Mainichi Issho ("Everyday Together"), players click through dialogues between Toro (the white cat) and Kuro (the black cat). There are blog-type newscasts delivered three times a day, which are actually well-written. Sony has hired a troupe of Japanese women to churn out content everyday. Above, the cats make jokes about when the PlayStation 10, PS100, PS10000 will come out before smacking each other. The cats ask you questions, and that data then comes into play in future episodes.

There are trivia games in which you can win prizes, such as furniture for the apartment. Plus, sports news, weather info as well as info about new downloads, etc. It's cute and actually somewhat fun—though clicking through the kitty-talk dialogue is way slower than scrolling through a page of text. My kid was completely hypnotized by the two felines, though. Me? Don't think I could spend everyday together with Toro and Kuro. More like once a week. Still, good effort on Sony's part to mix up and personalize the way we get information.
