"Limited" backwards compatability sounded ominous. People got upset. So Phil Harrison wants to put your troubled minds at ease. The Guardian asked Phil just how many PS2 games were going to be running on the PAL PS3:

We expect the list to encompass over 1,000 PlayStation 2 titles.

Well that's a change of tune. 1000 is hardly "limited". I'd presume that's GTA, Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, God of War, etc?

I can't give information on individual titles, but clearly, that would be our aim.

Righto. As the Guardian says, "It feels like a number plucked out of the air". And why let this slip now, rather than at the time of the original announcement? Argh, this is all a mess.

Guess we'll get some straight answers on March 23, when the list of compatible games is unveiled. Luke Plunkett
