Resident Evil 5 Co-Op Changes The Game

Taking advantage of our early entry onto the TGS showroom floor this morning, Mike and myself popped over to Sony's booth to play a little Resident Evil 5 co-op. Mike got Chris and a shotgun, I got Sheva and a handgun/sniper rifle, we both got dropped into some African marketplace and had to kill a whole load of zombies. Oh, sorry Capcom PR guy: infected. So, how'd we go? More »

An Intimate Evening With The PS3 Chatpad, Headset

The PlayStation 3's got two new peripherals coming up. One a snazzy new chatpad, one a snazzy new Bluetooth headset. Sure, we've seen both before, but we've seen them as press photos. Those can be kind of fuzzy, kind of smooth, kind of, well, fake. They don't show the real stuff. These do!

New Resident Evil 5 TGS Trailer

Another great trailer for you guys! This of course comes courtesy of Capcom in honor of Tokyo Game Show and it's quite epic. It gives us a little insight on how the plot is going to develop in Resident Evil 5 around Chris Redfield. But that's not all, there are plenty of other shotgun toting favorites, old and new, that make an appearance.

Resident Evil 5 will be hitting PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 13th, 2009. Yes, that's a Friday.

LittleBigPlanet Gets DualShock 3 Bundles Too

Taking a page from the Wii Play playbook, Sony is going to bundle one of its more popular upcoming games, LittleBigPlanet, with a DualShock 3. It'll do it in Japan anyway, hoping that the Japanese video game consuming public will be awed by the woolen cuteness of Sackboy and bring some vibrating solenoids into their workaday lives. Price is just 7980 yen, about $79 in increasingly worthless U.S. dollars.

For the PlayStation 3 plus LittleBigPlanet bundle box, please hit the jump.

Noby Noby Boy "Gameplay" Shown At TGS

Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi's next game, Noby Noby Boy (nee Nobi Nobi Boy), is being shown in video form only at Tokyo Game Show. Honestly, this is not what we had in mind. Unfortunately, of all the Namco Bandai games we've seen so far at TGS, this is not one of them. We're left scratching our heads. It's shockingly different in... gameplay(?) than what we'd seen at previous demos. We'll be camped out at the TGS PlayStation booth to try to make sense of the madness...

Resistance: Retribution, Resistance 2 Connect To Add "Infected" Gameplay

PlayStation Portable owners, you're about to get a bit more value our of your copy of Resistance: Retribution. If you also own a copy of Resistance 2 for the PlayStation 3 — and if you're actually going to grab Retribution, there's a good chance you'll have one — connecting your PSP to the PS3 will "infect" your copy of Retribution.

What does that actually mean? All new gameplay features, unlockable items and new areas that can only be reached with an infected copy.

Old Snake, Sephiroth Get Sackboyed For LittleBigPlanet

Kratos and Nariko aren't the only PlayStation properties getting the Sackboy treatment. Sony has announced at Tokyo Game Show that Sacks based on Old Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4 and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII will join the line-up of playable mascots in LittleBigPlanet. Looks like the relationships between Sony, Konami and Square Enix are still somewhat cozy. More details to come, but we have a quick question: who else just peed a little?

"PSP Plus" Brings DualShock Control To PSP

Sony is adding rumble support to the PSP, in a roundabout way, courtesy of the DualShock 3. Using the new "PSP Plus" feature in games like Resistance: Retribution, owners of both the PSP and PlayStation 3 will be able to forego the portable platform's analog nub for a better control experience.

By plugging in your AV-output capable PSP (2000 and 3000 models) and connecting the PSP to the PS3 via USB, you'll be able to switch on PSP Plus control through Resistance 2. Doing so adds DualShock 3 control support, letting you play PSP games on your television with a PS3 controller. It disables aim assist in Resistance: Retribution and lets the player alter their control layout to take advantage of the PS3 controller's extra inputs.

The option requires that gamers have a copy of Resistance 2 in their PS3s, but will not require a firmware update for either the PSP or PS3.
