Forza 2 Australian Launch: Thrice The Fun

This is the final build of Forza 2 running upscaled at 1080p, in a custom racing harness. Forza 2 on one screen, it's good. On three, it's great. Yes, only the fabulously wealthy could afford to play on a setup like this, but that's why we adore the fabulously wealthy. Because they're better than us.

Courtesy of Microsoft I was at a little soiree at Benzin, in Surry Hills, Sydney today, which is the first, and probably only, joint Thai restaurant/Volvo/Peugeot car dealer I'll ever go to. It was so strange. A Thai restaurant, surrounded by Volvos and Puegots. While eating, the people milling about me weren't waiters. They were people looking to purchase a Peugeot. Or Volvo.

Anyways, I had a go on both the super-setup and the regular, one-screen-one-controller setup, and found out two things. One, with access to most of the tracks and most of the cars, the full game's a lot prettier than the boring demo (the NYC track in particular). And secondly, this game will kick your ass. For reals. It's brutal. Even with all the frilly, lacey driving aids on it's hard. Turn them off, you're done for. This one's going to be for racing fans only.

Oh, and being the Australian launch, a few Australian details to finish off with. The game goes on sale June 14. The first-party 360 wheel is being cut from AUD$200 to AUD$150. And finally, there'll be a Forza 2/360 Premium console bundle, which will go on sale for AUD$700.
