Reuters has an interesting story up about MindHabits Trainer, a game developed by researchers at McGill University in Montreal which is meant to cut down on your stress, increase your confidence and make you a happier person.
The very simple game get you to look at a series of pictures and click on the faces that are smiling, avoiding the frowners. By doing this five to ten minutes a day the game has shown to help people feel less stressed and have higher self esteem.
I played around with the game this morning and find it very interesting. There are actually four different games, all of which are about getting you to accentuate the positive in your mind. I could totally see something like this hitting the DS. It seems like a perfect fit.

It's an interesting idea as far as research goes. I'm not so sure I'd submit myself to it daily, though.
As far as a DS port goes, I'm sure someone would interpret DS stylus poking as a mechanism of stabbing the happy people in the face, clearly in effort to take out your frustrations on those more fortunate, but less deserving than you. At least, by those who want to blame everything on video games.
I wouldn't think that looking for the person who's smiling would train people to focus on the bright side of life. But I guess I'd be wrong.
S'worth a shot to add it to my usual early morning routine before work.
its interesting, of the four, the smile-finding one pictured is probably the best. the word finding one seems to be broken or something.
Quick, somebody shop Max Payne into that picture. He would totally fit.
Isn't it a lot easier to just smile at the people you see? They will smile back and it feels good. Try it, it works, and it can actually make a big difference in your life. I know it sounds impossibly corny, but it's true.
I cant smile, my mouth is to small.
@xot: That's how I roll and fortunately for me my workmates all act like this - it's the best job I've ever had.
Oh... and we make beer... so that's cool too.
hey if this makes it to the ds, I am so totally buying it! (maybe when it goes on sale or if I bought it used or something for like $15 ^^;)
@syl1985: Glad there is still some civility in the world ... and from a fellow homebrewer, too! :)
