Bandannas, skintight acid-wash jeans and utility vests are the kiss of death. Well, at least according Datsu Otaku Fasshon Gaido (The Escape from Otaku Fashion Guide). The comic book follows archetypal otaku Kazuki and his friend Nana, who teaches him how to dress and says things like "Hey, that shirt and those pants hardly clash at all." She also points out how to accessorize and layer, while recommends getting haircuts at a maid hair salon. Digital World Tokyo says that the book's philosophy is that one can really love video games, cartoons and maids and dress respectably. Damn skippy!
