Who hates Club Nintendo? WE DO. Ash excepted. Lucky sod. Why do we hate it with such a white-hot passion? Because, not being Japanese, we can't get our clumsy Western hands on all their rad stuff. We're jealous. And man enough to admit it. Example: this latest round of offerings for Japanese members. They can get a Mario desk calendar. Nifty! Or a sparkly, 2-disc Mario Galaxy soundtrack. Alluring! Best of all, though, is this official Wii-compatible SNES pad. Which is downright perfect. Or...would be, if we didn't hate Club Nintendo so bad.

How awesome is that!!
Me want!!
(I know we have Club Nintendo in Europe now but the chances of getting it are zero to negative infinity)
I'll get really jealous if they get a N64 controller.
Wow, I would actually download SNES virtual console games if I could use this.
!!!!
ARGH!!!!
I WANT!(and not for a rediculous price through ebay :( )
/me waits for Ash to make a contest with prizes like these....!!!!
!!!
Holy shit Nintendo... I would totally buy that if you just packaged it for Wii use over here. I already have a classic controller and I really don't care, that's how awesome that is.
Why aren't replica controllers on sale for the Wii anyways!? I'd love to have a real N64 and Genesis controller for my vc games.
interesting. now just for shits give us a jaguar controller. yeah..
thing looked like a phone. wost... controller,,, ever!
wost? wost? wtf! what freak makes a typo rike that?
(it was the best of times.. it Was The BLURST OF TIMES! you stupid monkey!)
Dear god, I'd kill for one of these. o_o
(I seriously made an account just to comment for this.)
O.o I want that.
*loads gun*
*books ticket to Tokyo*
That SNES pad is sweet. Something that Nintendo should have done instead of making an SNES pad Playstation controler.
The SNES controller was amazing for its time, but has NOT aged will. It was small and flimsy. The Classic Controller is about 100x better if one isn't wearing rose-colored glasses whilst looking at the past.
As a sheer COLLECTIBLE, however, it's pretty cool.
By "will" I meant "well." =)
@Pornosaur: If they get a N64 controller I'm going to open up some hurting.. (How I don't know.. but I'm calling to call NOA every freaking day!!)
....
I think I'm about to go buy a classic controller and take it apart and see what the guts look like, then stuff it inside an SNES controller. They can't be that different, can they?
This is good. I have a Classic Controller but it's really uncomfortable. I don't like it at all. I'd totally buy this, though. The SNES pad was just right for my small hands =D
lets....BOYCOTT NINTENDO!
I'm a member of Club Nintendo, and I gotta say, you gotta buy a lot of stuff to those fancy things... then again, maybe I'll get myself a Wii and Mario Galaxy for Christmas. That might just give me enough points. Sweet. Club Nintendo kicks ass.
i dont get it, perrin kaplan says there is no club nintendo in america because its bigger and would cost more, yet they have tons of money to spend on wii remote covers and wrist straps
Nice, the snes pad was fun. The SN Pro pad is where it's at though.
I would sell my liver for a proper 64 pad for the wii though
Pretty sweet. Hell, if Nintendo wanted money, they could start offering the original controllers like this for twenty bucks each, and we'll all be happy.
I'd buy that, and I don't even have a Wii. o.0
I'd pay £20 for this. I mean, the classic controller's imitation of this is the reason £30 doesn't seem so much for it. But then I notice you mean $20 and realise how sad Nintendo peripheral pricing has become.
@Langis: I would be inclined to agree if the Classic Controller didn't have analog triggers which feel bizarre for SNES and N64 games. Why do they even need to be there? It's not like you can play GC games with it.
I don't really care when Club Nintendo gets useless trinkets that aren't available to the rest of us. But this? This bothers me a bit.
That looks cooler than my Classic Controller. :(
I bet it would be a lot of fun with SSBB!
I swear to god, if they get Chrono Trigger and FFVI for the VC, I'm bombing Hiroshima.
...too soon?
any chance of NoE releasing this
*crosses fingers and hopes against all reason europe doesnt get shafted*
We need the classic SNES conrtoller back!
And add to the VC collection more RPGS! heck, add Nigel Mansel & Newman Haas Indy Kart too.
EMOENVY BEAMS AWAY
;_; >>>> *chew chew chew* >>>>>>>>
Awsome idea - come on NoE!
...if they brought out the N64 controller then I'd go for the N64 VC games!
Forget that controller! I want that OST!
I think you can, with some tinkering, make a Wii compatible SNES/NES/N46 controller... basically replace the plug with a Gamecube one or somethng.
Gah, I will hunt them down and beat them with my dad's RAA lock.
... o.O Now thats a classic controller.
Why does japan get everything and we get screwed over?
I think I first read about RetroZone here on kotaku, but maybe I didn't. Anyway, they make SFC and FC controller adapters for the wii, and I've had two SFC controllers hooked up since around last Christmas. [www.retrousb.com]
href="#c2999829">Grave: And you call yourself a Nintendo fanboy.
Hello, eBay.
I'm really glad that I managed to get my hands on the Gamecube-compatable "classic controller" (which imitated the SNES controller) when Hori still existed. Should've bought two.
@InsomniaBob: Not until you suicide bomb Hiroshima.
Meh, I have an adptor for SNES and NES pads to the Wii.
What we need is an N64 pad for the Wii or an adaptor (retrousb.com?!?!?1 HEEEEEELLLLOOO???) because lets face it, the Gamecube and classic controllers just don't cut it.
@bigman88zz: I'd love to do that over the horribly inflated Australian prices... but I just can't. ;_;
THE PAD, I MUST HAVE IT
Grrr, why can't they just do things like this in Europe?! :(
oh man i wish i could get one of those
How about an adapter so I can plug my old SNES controller, or NES controller, into the Wiimote controller. Even having an adapter that can plug into the Gamecube jack on the Wii would be acceptable. For bonus idea, the adapter could also have extra batteries to power the Wiimote even longer.
How about a stand alone unit that you can plug all of the older controllers into (SNES, NES, Turbo-Grafx, Genises, etc.) and communicates wireless to the Wii, without needing to plug into the Wiimote.
They could make a killing. Think about a brand spanking new NES, SNES, and N64 controllers say for $15, $20, $25 a piece. Have them come with a one-time use code that would give you one free download/chosen game for the applicable system. There is a market.
Hell, sega could make some hardware again, if just controllers, if they wanted to do a genesis one.
(I know about the retrousb site, I have a snes controller in pretty good condition from back in the day that I was thinking about using, but finding old controllers that arn't nasty... Thrift stores, swap meets and flea markets are not my thing. Besides, those adapters plug into the console, not wireless via wiimote - I guess the protocols for using that port are not documented for third-party without a crazy license fee. I would use one of their original USB adapters to do emulator gaming.)
Dunno if anybody's said this yet or not, but there's already a brand spankin' new NES pad on the market and it's called the WiiMote. It's virtually identical to the NES pad, just longer.
They get the mario galaxy soundtrack? No fair. I want that.
@callahan09:
Only it's fatter and has shit A+B/1+2 buttons, right? Really, the Wiimote held NES-style is inferior to the actual NES controller.
@Langis: Very true. The classic controller is more than adequate to replicate what the SNES controller did. If you think about it, the layout is perfect for SNES games.
I don't care for the contrller, but I want the 2 CD Super Mario Galaxy Soundtrack. The game has beautiful music...
Want :(
Mario Galaxy ST and an SNES controller. I disagree with the majority of the room, the n64 controller felt awkward to me, so I skipped that console, much like I did with the cube because cube controllers still give me hand cramps.
The snes controller though was just simple evolution, which carried forward into the Sony Playstation. And yes despite the fact that the classic controller is larger, it would still be awesome to play with the sleekness of the true classic SNES controller.
There's only one answer to this. Let the petition begin!
We should get a petition going. NOE / NOA need to know that their loyal customers feel like this. Its rare anything good appears on Europe's stars catalogue, and things that do go instantly. We still dont have stars for VC points...
@SoloMonster: retrosub.com they have those adaptors for SNES and NES.
Thats pretty sweet. I agree that a n64 controller would be cool. And functional even. The classic controller works great as an SNES controller but I find it a bit awkward sometimes for the n64 games. Particuarlly Ocarina of Time.
@Umandsf: I'm with Umandsf! Give us the soundtrack!
If there were ever a reason to start a petition to get Nintendo to put out stuff like this in the U.S., this would be it. I've shed many a tear for all the cool Club Nintendo stuff Japan has gotten over the years.
@InsomniaBob: Gosh I went to Hiroshima and THAT's harsh. lol But I'd say it's almost worth it. Holding a city hostage for some games, lol
Yet again, we (the US) get burned down by nintendo. I'm in Chicago and having moved from NYC, I'm sorely missing Nintendoworld where they would occasionally have amazing shit that can only be gotten there and Nintendoworld in Japan.
WHAT THE FUCK!!
That's seriously not cool! NOA! America wants this! Can't you see the demand? Give us things like this!!
I would so love to get that controller and the mario galaxy soundtrack~~~
God Damn Club Nintendo =[
don't they realize that controller would print money? I'd buy two @20 each.
The SNES controller is close enough to the classic controller. I need an N64 controller because the buttons are so weird.
That is some seriously hardcore awesome there. I would buy NES and SNES controllers for playing my VC games in a heartbeat. Two each. And I already have two classic controllers! They could price 'em at $30-40 and I'd still buy them. Hear that, NOA? I would shell out $160 for controllers I don't need without a second thought, just because they're the controllers I grew up playing.
