If you've never seen on in the flesh, a Pachislot machine is about what you'd imagine it to be from the name. It's part-pachinko machine, part-slot machine (though mostly slot machine). Now, Kotaku tower officially says "NO" to mechanical games of chance, but we reserve the right to make exceptions. We always make exceptions. Especially to gambling machines put out by SNK that are Fatal Fury-themed from head to toe.
SNK FATAL FURY PACHISLOT [Hobby Blog]

I love the modern-day Geishas. Just a joke, just a joke.
Part-pachinko part-slot machine
half the winning percentage!
WOW! where is this kind of stuff in America, I prefer pachinko to slots, and fatal fury to both of them.
*stares at the Mai Shiranui models*
eh...what was that about a game? o_O
ill take one please... im talking about the ladies. ohh hey look an arcade.
I wouldn't mind having one to get better when i play at a casino.
SNK is diversifying their portfolio because their games suck.
Oh my god...
I knew it. Kotaku is testing us tonight. It's totally a set-up for a Ban Orgy.
Close-minded idiots and perverts...run for your lives!
But...how is that supposed to be Pachinko? I'm not exactly Japanese, but I thought Pachinko was like a ragdoll tech demo. That just looks like a normal slot machine to me.
Anybody care to explain it to me?
I want Katamari Craps and Resident Evil Roulette. These things need to happen people.
What about the House of the Dead slot machines? I've seen a couple in a local casino, although they don't come with real zombie models or that annoying imp.
@Kirbytheslayer: Is in on the conspiracy: Everything is a conspiracy to you.
Pachinko is a lot of silver balls bouncing down pins into cups, that is not pachinko methinks
@Kirbytheslayer: Is in on the conspiracy: You're right. I don't see any room for balls anywhere.
The one on the right has shiny legs... :L
@Kirbytheslayer: Is in on the conspiracy: The article did say, "It's part-pachinko machine, part-slot machine (though mostly slot machine)."
@lker: But Part-Pachinko-Part Slot Machine(mostly slot machine), and no pachinko whatsoever?
Then that is totally misleading. It's all slot.
Ohhhh Mai Mai Mai!!!! but yeah pachinko is awesome and adding Fatal Fury is just the icing on the cake.
Hey guys, let's quit arguing about slots and balls for a minute and just agree that none of us will really know how to feel until we actually experience it for ourselves.
@Kirbytheslayer: Is in on the conspiracy: Must resist urge...
...Look at their balls lol fatal fury!
...Oh shit...
@Foggynotion: They already have. Did you see the price of Damacy DLC? And who expected Umbrella Chronicles to actually be good?
Haaaayooooo...
Middle left ftw.
Back on topic... pachi-slot actually lets you control when the reels stop. So even though it's got nothing to do with dropping ball bearings, there is still some skill involved. A one-armed-bandit is completely automated.
And you can see Sega-Sammy sales are dropping sharply, so there's plenty of ideas every few months to draw the crowds.
(And for those unawares, it's illegal to actually win money on these things in Japan. Just prizes.)
@Witzbold:
I dunno, far right is lookin' kinda hot. So is far left. And middle right.
Shit, nevermind, you're right.
@Witzbold: Agreed. She's got a bit of everything: the pose, the toned legs (moreso than the others at least), and eyes instead of empty black sockets -- the two on the right give me the willies (the good kind and the bad kind).
I too am interested in how exactly this machine is part-pachinko, since its outward appearance doesn't scream anything other than "SNK Slots".
@myxylplyx: Nominated!
@xerxes7:
I'm guessing you speak of the ban-hammer nomination. I'm not ready to die! I love Kotaku! I wish I was Brian Crecente!
@Witzbold: Agreed, indeed.
mind you in japan they aren't called slot machines as gambling (I think) is illegal. these are "skill" machines.
Shame that this will be the only new thing related to Fatal Fury to emerge from SNK, at least until KOF XII is released.
...Far left, would.
Half slots, half pachinko, and half anime... and yet I still don't care. I want the ladies!
@Brackynews:
Pachi-slot machines do let you control when the wheel stops, but only a small percentage of the time. Most of the time no matter when you press the buttons, the machine decides when to stop the wheel.
To anybody wondering:
These are called PACHI-slots because of the way the game actually plays; spinning the three wheels and actually getting a Bonus plays out a lot like regular Pachinko machines. Sometimes a slot machine will be remade as a pachinko machine and vice-versa. The game is the same, but how you play it is slightly different (pushing buttons vs. watching balls fall).
And finally, yes, you can win money. Gambling is illegal in Japan, but Pachinko parlors use loopholes to award people pieces of plastic in exchange for balls/coins, which you then take outside and exchange for money.
Now you know!
@mil: Which are usually exchanged at shops with a yellow sign that says "TUC" above it. TUC something anyways, can usually find them next to the pachinko / slot places.
In 1999 SNK gave us the last, and possibly greatest, Fatal Fury game to grace fighting game fans around the world; Garou: Mark of the wolves. We jumped for joy.
In 2000 SNK ceased to exist. Gamers whined and moaned, yatta,yatta,yatta...then in 2001, Playmore successfully bid for and obtained SNK's intellectual rights later in that same year. Gamers had a reason to smile and hoped this would mean we'd be graced with a new game starring South Towns favorite characters. Thus began the wait.
In 2007, the wait was over. Fatal Fury, one of the most awesome 2D fighting games around, had returned...as a Pachinko game. Bewilderment ensued, but all was meant to be forgiven by the sight of four hot Mai's. It's working.
I would like to play with your Mai Shiranuis, Miss.
If I ever decide to gamble in Japan, I'd have to play one of these.
Final words of James Tiberius Kirk: Oh Mai...
They have nice thighs :)
@KeroseneClimax: I know it was meant to be funny, but your post made me want to curl up in the corner and weep softly...
Also, nothing against Mai, but they should have thrown at least one Terry Bogard (or at least Andy) into the mix, 4x Mai is a bit much....thats probably just me ;P
There are actually Tomb Raider slots in the NA market. Odd as it sounds -- there are quite a few video game themed slots. I like the Mai models, but why do some have larger balls than the others? Are they chained to the machines? ;_;
4 Hit Combo.
@Mongoosekun: Must be the different "versions" of Mai.
@Foggynotion:
Brilliant. Don't forget about a game of Lucky Hit accompanied by an annoying gamemaster. lol
Yeah, one version is FF3/RBFF Mai
One version is KOF Mai, guessing other two are FF2 Mai and NGBC Mai.
eh...how are they covering their privies?
Other than the coin slot, virtually nothing in slot machines is mechanical anymore.
Or was the article talking about the other slots? Oh well, erm carry on then.
Oh hell yeah.
god damn I hate Playmore. Turning SNK material into pachinko fodder. WHERE'S MY KOF XII?
Notice how the cuter girls middle left, and far right have the nicer costumes in comparison to the other 2? ;D
Notice all the costume are different...very sloppy.
I'd knock down all four of them. I have a Street Fighter 2 slot machine at the house that plays kinda like this one. Very loud fun.
@Witzbold: TOTTALLY AGREED.
it made think i must play the slot .
ahh i dont recognize the girls drawing on the top of the slot machine ?
@Witzbold: Definitely. I saw her and everything
