When random guys on the internet says your hardware has serious problems, that's one thing, but when one of the top websites regarding stocks, investing, and personal finance completely tears you a new one in their Value Investing section - well that's got to sting. Not only does Seth Jayson over at The Motley Fool constantly refer to the Xbox 360 as the Xbotch, he has the personal experience of two dead ones to back it up. Being a personal finance and investing site mainly, the article ends with some investing advice:
As an investor, I can't help but worry that my experience with Microsoft consumer products is not out of the ordinary. Not only are repairs an expensive waste of shareholder capital, but they risk alienating potential customers and crimping future growth. In effect, it doesn't matter if the rate of Xbotch failure is as low as Microsoft reportedly contends, because the perceived rate of failure is what matters to consumers.
With my personal 360 randomly locking up and refusing to see the network adapter, I am firmly with him on this one. Despite my love of the games, based on the current hardware issues I would not be tempted to put money on the future of the 360. Stop pussyfooting around just fix the damn thing already.
