Bit over a month ago, THQ delayed a bunch of games. Then they said they were lowering their financial outlook for the year. Now Chief Financial Officer Edward Zinser has quit his job at the company. Co-incidence? Doesn't look like it, but THQ say otherwise:
[Zinser's resignation] is in no way related to the financial condition, results of operations or future prospects of THQ.Maybe he just got sick of the sell sell sell corporate lifestyle and moved to Alaska to live in a wooden hut, write haiku and fish all day. Who knows, they're not releasing the reason for his departure, saying only that it was by "mutual agreement". Vice president and controller Rasmus van der Colff will sit in Zinser's rapidly-cooling chair until a replacement can be found.

Something is not right.
"moved to Alaska to live in a wooden hut, write haiku and fish all day."
Aaah my idea of a perfect life.
Comments full of haiku in 3...2...1...
The problem with THQ? I can't seriously name any games from them on top of my head asides from licensed crap of which I still can't even really name.. And no, I'm not talking about games they acquired through acquisitions and what not, I'm talking about original games that they have produced in recent time.
I do remember back in the PlayStation (One) era, they produced some half decent material when they first came out, but slowly, and slowly, they just came down raining with (as Reggie says it) "sequelidus".
Oh wait, did they make a Rugrats game (sarcasm may or may not have been intended).
THQ... I want an Evil Dead games for the PS3 and 360 because my Evil Dead: Regeneration doesnt work on the 360.
"Potato salad,
or a polyester suit.
I can roll in both."
@mr_dimsum: Dawn of War. One of the greatest RTS games in recent years.
@InsomniaBob: That just made my day.
@Gouki4u:
"Haiku with nature
Cherry Blossoms in the wind
Ow, right in the eye."
@Ghede: lol
"Haiku are easy,
but sometimes they don't make sense.
Refrigerator."
@mr_dimsum: how about the Dawn of War series, or WH40k Squad Commander, or Company of Heros and Titan Quest for the non licenced stuff? There are 4 really great games. Not to mention they are working on a WH40k MMO and Fuels of War is pretty good.
@Gouki4u: thats great I have that T-shirt I got it a few months ago way to repeat something from a t-shirt
@taftsearlobe23: I've seen that haiku before, but not on a t-shirt.
@taftsearlobe23: Let's not forget that they have the rights to Homeworld, now, too.
The fact of the matter is that THQ is one of the few really good, actually innovative RTS publishers out there nowadays. It's been my experience that their games, esp. Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, and Supreme Commander, actually offer something significantly different from the standard RTS model, and are just plain good games.
@Gouki4u: it was available at Threadless a long time ago
THQ is a joke

@mr_dimsum:
To be fair, I'll preface this by saying I'm totally biased because I work for a THQ studio.
Perhaps the reason you don't hear about THQ games very often, is that it, unlike some other large publishers, prefers to credit its developers more highly than itself on original IP (which, I think, is only fair). Second, I've always felt that original IP THQ games have been underrated by the big reviewers. Third, THQ is working hard to build up its original IP, and I think you'll be pleased with what's coming over the next few years from THQ.
S'long as they work with Relic, I'll keep buying their games.
@SLONER:
Ha ha, don't work too hard to play down your bias. I also happen to work for THQ. They are like any other company - out to make money. Crediting developers does nothing to impress the local Gamestop patron.
Unless it's Bioware, or Valve, or Bungie, or....
I have to say that THQ releases are much better these days than the crapola they put out back in the NES/SNES days. Also no one mentioned S.T.A.L.K.E.R. which I quite enjoyed.
