If you own a PlayStation 3, chances are you paid a considerable sum of cash for it. As such, that makes it a valuable asset. And what do you do with valuable assets? Yes, grown-ups in the house, you pay considerable sums of cash to ensure they never come to any harm.
Which brings us to SCEE's Continuous Play scheme, whereby British PlayStation owners (PS2, PSP or PS3) can pay a flat monthly sum to ensure that should anything happen to their console (including you putting your foot through it in a fit of rage, as it covers problems or damage), Sony will swing by, pick up the broken unit and get a replacement to you within two working days. And they'll do it as many times as they need to; there's no limit on replacements or extra cost so long as you keep paying your monthly rate.
Protection for your PSP or PlayStation 2 will set you back £2.49 per month, while a PS3 will cost you £4.99 a month. Which works out to be £59.88 a year for your PS3 or £29.88 a year for the other two. A tad pricey, then, but considering you get unlimited replacement consoles if you can afford it, it'd be worth it just for the convenience. Or for the fact you'd have the chance to smash up a PS3 every week and not have to face the horrible consequences.
