Screen Play are reporting that Sony are reporting (let's play CHINESE WHISPERS!) that they've sold 20,000 PS3s in Australia since the launch on Thursday night.
The latest GfK figures (think Australian NPDs) aren't due out until later this week, so SCE Australia either got a hot tip from an insider or they're plucking figures out of the air. Seems awfully soon to be the former.
For reference, the 360 sold 30,000 in its first weekend, and the Wii sold around 33,000. 20k is of course nowhere near those two, but it's still more than most, including me, would have thought they'd pull after Thursday night. Should this figure be on the money, Sony can pat themselves on the back.
We'll post the official numbers as soon as I get my hot, damp, little hands on them.
