Sony are intent on converting you pagan Americans into true SingStar believers, and their masterplan kicks up a notch when the PS3 version of the drunk girl shriekfest karaoke sim goes on sale in the US. That day is approaching, and has been announced by Sony as being November 13. Why not get yourself ready by perusing some of the tracklist. And maybe even contemplating that playing this won't make you any less of a man.

Got to admit, I'm tempted to get this.
If only to allow my G/F to freak out the neighbors when I'm not home (it's the only time she'll get near the PS3).
SWEET! This game is going to rock!
ROCK BAND will crush this game, thi game looks decent, i muy buy it when the ps3 get a better price drop...
its a shame they force you to buy the vodka separately it really should be bundled with the game.
@TOCATL: Different target audience.
I went to university in a PAL region, and most parties I went to had Singstar running, with drunk people "singing" all night.
Rock Band is the sort of the game that needs to be more the focus of the party. Whereas Singstar can happily be background.
Looking at the photo in this topic makes me think of the days I'd look at the back of Highlights magazines and point out all the odd, out of place stuff.
1) The PS3 is placed at an incredibly odd angle. Who honestly has a console system where they make the front with the controller ports face the wall?
2) How is that lamp not obstructing the view of the television? Even if it looks very slightly off to the left of the screen it's bound to leave a nasty glare in the girls' eyes.
@Mokai: You don't look at many Sony lifestyle shots, do you? This kinda stuff is standard for them.
Luke don't link to that post. >.> The full set was already announced.
@Plunkett: I think I'm just getting tired of the "Friendly family/friend image" in general. The setting of energetic, smiling, fit people all crammed into an artistically-modern room and being forced to hold a controller they've probably not once touched in their life is becoming way, -way- overused. It just... looks too fake. Can't the people being paid money to come up with this sort of stuff think of anything better?
I wonder how many Singstar peeps will also spring for Wii Boogie?
Personally I like me some Singstar, it's a bit of fun and keeps me awake when it's getting towards nodding off time late into a party.
@superbabyproject: not many...
I'd be tempted to try this series for the hell of it, but only a couple songs interest me in the slightest.
I'll stick with Rock Band for my group musical experience, I think.
Silly Sony, girls don't own PS3s. Seriously, what the hell would they play on it? I have a hard time finding something to play on it so I can't even imagine my girlfriend trying to find a single game that interests her.
Plus, I can do karoake on Rock Band, so who needs SingStar?
@TOCATL: @Doomstink: Whenever I think of Rock Band, the word Juggernaut comes into my head.
@i_am_ben: god, how true that is.
@Doomstink: right, girls dont play the same games, they need dumbed-down minigames or barbie's funhouse, eh? nice.
So long as the mikes work for both, I don't mind getting this game along with Rock Band. I mean, Rock Band will be much more skill-intensive (from a gamer standpoint) than this...
And dammit, I do like some of the songs.
@Mokai:
Controller ports? What controller ports? heh
Start your karaoke engines people, because Sony has just announced that Singstar will be going on sale in the US starting November 13th.
