The SCEE SingStar crew have updated their IGN blog again with some more details on the game, and this one's...well, expected, but still not entirely pleasant.
Thanks to everyone for reading our blog and to all of you who responded to Paulina's request for song suggestions. Some of your suggestions such as Hoobastank - The Reason, Europe - Final Countdown and Maroon 5 - This Love have already appeared on previous PlayStation 2 versions of SingStar over here in Europe, but you'll be able to download these gems (and plenty of others) from the SingStore.
That news comes in two flavours. If you're new to SingStar or only had one or two of the previous versions, it means you can pick and choose the best of the "old" songs for your shiny new version of the game. Good stuff. But if you're a SingStar fanatic, and own every copy of the game down to the Croatian versions? Tough shit, you've got to buy the songs again.
To be fair I can't see a workaround for this on Sony's part, but still. I know a lot of girls (and guys) who own old versions, and who are not accustomed to the finer points of microtransaction rape, that will find this a particularly abrasive introduction to the idea.
