So Microsoft announces Games For Windows Live, and the internet hivemind utters a collective..."bleh". Obviously not the kind of reception MS were after, so they're off on the campaign trail trying to drum up support for the service. First stop, Games for Windows magazine. When asked what on earth is going to convince PC users to pay for GFW Live, Peter Moore reckons:
Well, don't underestimate achievements. You're right, though. If you're a hardcore PC gamer [...] you have to hang back and have a look. But we are giving you a choice, and we're opening up a world where you get access to the console community. A lot of existing Gold members are going to get better value out of their Gold membership, and I like to think that we'll also grow both Silver and Gold memberships because of the breadth of the device-agnostic gaming experience that we're now providing.
Don't overestimate them, either. You know, the more I see of this service, the more it starts to look like a complete waste of time.
