Sweet!
Awesome song with kick ass solo!
\m/ o.o \m/
SOLD!
Wow, so many great songs on both Rock Band and GH3. *drools*
ACK!!! I swore I'd never buy one of these games.
One... Man, I'm going to have to buy this damn game now!
Why'd they do this to me?
WHY!?!?!
This is going to be soooo sweeet.
Good it looks like this GH is going to have a good amount of thrash metal. Will all of the "big four" appear in GH III? We'll have to wait to find out.
Congrats Activision. You're back in the game!
I gladly stand corrected on this one.
It's also good to see that you haven't forgotten those of us who aren't in the Mr. Robot loop.
as awesome as One is, i might have to pass on this game. satanism is a big turn off to me. i really hope they don't include any Slayer songs on the Rock Band disc. i don't really give a shit if they have them as downloadable content because i can choose not to download it, but putting it on the disc in career mode forces me to have to play it and i'm not down with that.
@AgainstOne: Are you serious?
First one of Slayer's best songs and now one of Metallica's!? I'm so psyched for this.
@AgainstOne:
Slayer's Raining Blood has Satanic imagery to create a feeling of horror. Although their newer cd really is Satanic, its also a very anti-war cd. They aren't evil people, and aren't they ALLOWED to be Satanic? Freedom of religion is a good thing.
Ugh, I want to be excited. But my roommate has been playing GH 80's a lot lately and I'm sick of the whole music game thing. I'm waiting for Lair, Heavenly Sword, MGS4, Stranglehold, everything but this one. I feel as if the fad has ended for me.
...........Dude! I am sooo buying it now!
@goonface: they can be satanic all they want, that's their right, but i don't have to listen to it, that's my right.
it would be no different than forcing satanists to play christian rock/metal songs on guitar hero. i'm pretty sure they wouldn't be down with that.
@ceilingFANBOY: you agnostics have it so easy, don't you? you can just sit back and judge everyone else for their beliefs, since you don't have any.
Is he not that good at GH? I played through it on hard and didn't fail a single time and only missed 5 stars on 8 songs (one of which having a 97% and only two being 3 stars). I don't even consider myself to be great at the game. Above average, but not great. I can't really see spending too much time on the game.
@goonface: Aren't followers of Satanism who are anti war contradicting themselves?
Anyway, I'm still craving some Zeppelin. Either way, I'm still buying this for Wii.
@AgainstOne: I didn't mean are you serious as in you are a religious person, I was saying it as in that you are going to let the inclusion of one song on the game keep you from playing the game. Just ignore the words and play the notes coming down the screen. Besides, how is playing a song that is satanic any worse than playing a FPS or StripperFucker 5?
BTW, there is a difference between atheist and agnostic.
Leave the religion out of it, everyone. Let's talk guitars, not gods.
What does being a satanist and going to war have in common?
@ceilingFANBOY: man, you might not consider yourself great, but that's pretty great. i beat all songs on hard on the first try, but didn't get quite as high marks as you did. i have gotten 100% perfects on 28 out of the 30 songs on medium, though.
i consider myself to be pretty good. mainly because i've never met anyone who's better. when i play at wal-mart or best buy i get a crowd telling me how good i am and the best buy employees told me i'm the best they've ever seen, but you're better than i am from what you said.
@Plunkett: How about rock gods?
Oh. Hell. Yes.
I need to brush up on my skills now that Slayer and Metallica are confirmed to kick my arse.
I'm not one of those people that have perfects on all the songs on expert. I haven't finished getting 5 stars in GH II on hard or expert yet, although that is partially because of time constraints.
@Plunkett: Unless of course we are talking about Guitar Gods
@ceilingFANBOY: 2 questions:
1) do you play guitar IRL?
2) what is your style for working the fret buttons?
@ceilingFANBOY: Nothing I guess, it's just that I would assume Satanists would support that sort of thing. Then again I don't know much about the religion, but I would assume the controversy over the religion is due to a general support of all things evil, including wars.
Everytime I've made up my mind not buy GH3, they throw something in there to make me want to buy it more. Metallica, Slayer, Maiden, and Dragonforce are enough to make me buy any rhythym game, but I'm going to wait until I have some hands on time with GH3 before I jump on board. Those early videos with the really poor timing has me real leary of it without Harmonix's involvement. Rock Band has the slight edge, but if their song selection is poor, GH3 will take the day.
@Plunkett
Let's compromise and talk about Guitar Gods.
btw, i checked out the lyrics to Raining Blood and they aren't satanic, per se, so i guess i could play it, although i don't like the idea of playing a Slayer song.
i felt the same way about Danzig in GH2 also, but i got over it, LOL
I play bass. I don't really have a "style" for working the fret buttons. However, playing bass requires you to be able to reach far on the neck without moving so I can easily reach from green to orange without having to strain my hands. Also, having to do chord progressions on the bass help make it easier to move up and down the neck without losing my place on the neck because I try to use my pointer and middle fingers as much as possible for the faster parts. Beyond that, realizing patterns helps a lot.
What about playing Bad Religion in GH I? You know, that band that is famous for being atheist.
@ceilingFANBOY: nah, that's not a problem
Also, if my first comment sounded like I was talking down about your religion, it wasn't meant to. I just feel that whenever someone fears something that goes against their beliefs it is because they aren't completely secure with their beliefs. I know that there are a bunch of pretentious asshole atheists that think they are better than everyone else, but I am a very tolerant atheist and allow for everyone else to have their own beliefs. I guess it comes from me knowing that I am a minority and because I come from a religious family that I actually am pretty much forced to hide my beliefs from but also because I am well aware that I have no way of proving my beliefs just as theists have no way of proving their beliefs. And now I will stop my rant because this should be about the game and not our religions.
@ceilingFANBOY: Umm, no, he's pretty good. He just really enjoys the game.
@ceilingFANBOY: There is a difference between fearing something and not wanting to give money to something you don't support.
Damn. That pretty much sells it. One thing, though...where's my Motley Crue?!
I guess I have to go back to trying to beat Guitar Hero 2 on expert to warm up for this game.
By the way, the members of Slayer are not Satanists. They find the religion interesting and have written songs about it. But the do not believe in it.
@soulscremereturns: Does he like 80s music? That's the main problem with this game is that I just don't like most of the stuff on it. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dead Kennedys (although the lyric changes were distracting to me), and the stuff more like The Vapors were fine for me, but I don't like the full on hair bands. If they put out a Christian Rock Hero and the songs sounded cool and were fun to play, i would buy it.
@ceilingFANBOY: Umm, he likes the music in the game. A few tracks aren't his flavor, but those ones can be skipped.
As for the second part, good for you?
I'm dieing to know if Rock band guitar will work for both...
I would have liked it better if their was more of a variety but I think they were going for the tracks that defined the decade more than just getting tracks from the decade. That second part was just in response to one of your earlier comments. It just seems that supporting a game that includes Slayer is in no way going to harm his Christianity just as if I were to support a game that included Christian music it would in no way threaten my atheism. It's not like with political parties where if you give the Republicans money but you like the Democrats you are making it harder for the Democrats to win. Oh well, I'm too tired for this debate and really don't want to have it now anyway, especially with the delayed reactions we have on here rather than an immediate feedback. Let's go back to discussing the rock.
I'm glad that they chose a Metallica song rather than a Selloutica song. The newer songs are dull and sound too much like they were trying to fit in with all of the Nu Metal bands.
Sounding better and better, for real. But I'd still like something heavier to be added, like Sepultura or Converge. And why still no Black Flag??
@AgainstOne: I feel the same way about being forced to play the Allman Brothers' "Jessica" in career mode for GHII. I hate southern rock at least as much as you hate Satan. But I still bought the game. If you let Slayer scare you out of buying the game, then Satan Wins.
metallica, slayer, dragonforce, iron maiden, black sabbath.
They know what i like.. must buyyyy
We've got nothing better to do
Than watch T.V. and have a couple of brews
SOLD!!
@eugaet:
Dang I am wondering the same. I was hoping to see Motley Crue's: Doctor Feelgood in there. Guess not....
Man this discussion really turned into politics and religion quick, seirously guys let it go!
Activision must be really scared of Rock Band if they are finally putting in songs people want to play. Unfortunately Rock Band is gonna have to suck majorly if Activision wants my money. I hope Rock Band gets all of And Justice For All for DLC.
It's not a victory for either side until one of them gets Disciples of the Watch by Testament.
It's amazing what a real budget will do for a game.
And lo' the gods did rocketh, and it was awesome.
\m/ >_< \m/
I'm going to have to make myself a violin peripheral for GH, so I can play One Apocalyptica-style.
Not to really keep the religion talk going too much, but has anyone noted yet that Slayer's lead singer, Tom Araya, is a self-professed Roman Catholic? He believes in an all-loving God and whatnot. (a little bit about it is on his wikipedia entry- i had to check before posting this to make sure i hadn't just made that up in my head somehow)
Although, maybe to balance things out, they should throw down some early POD or maybe even Stryper.
Yeah, that's it. The only way GHIII will survive against Rock Band will be massive doses of Stryper.
Just a heads up, Lamb of God is christian metal and it was in GHII... I love hard rock, so I love the guitar solos in Laid to Rest, but the lead singer seriously just gets on my last nerve. I really hope GH3 doesn't become all about the rock that Annoys NfoRcEr with Screaming bands be it deep voice (Lamb of God) or High/shrill voice (Slayer)
Just a random thought, but would anyone else like some Eric Clapton in GH? It would be awesome and would be a great "boss battle" to battle Clapton, though I don't think you could ever win... he should just let you pass if you do decent enough (hit 65% of the notes he hits :D)
Metallica - One (Cover by afi) XD
@NFORCERX: I think you are a little off base with your comment about Lamb of God being a Christian metal band... You do realize their former band name was "Burn the Priest"? Also, the first song on their Sacrament album is titled "Walk With Me in Hell" doesn't seem to be spreading the good Word as much as it should if they were Christian metal. They sing about religion a bit in their songs, but not in any way that could possibly be construed as Christian.
@AGAINSTONE: I am a Christian and I love Metallica and Lamb of God and metal in general. Some of the lyrics from metal bands are questionable, but for the most part, Satanic themes are used to create a sense of horror, etc., much in the same way evil and Satanic subjects are used in horror movies. But some of the stuff can get a little extreme, and I stay away from the stuff that is really Satanic, as in singing about Satan like a Christian band would sing about Jesus, heheh. Not many bands like that I think, so I don't stay away from much. Anyways, you should make your own decision about buying GHII, but I think you are passing too quick of judgment on songs and bands you consider inappropriate. In fact, read the lyrics to "One", if anything religious it's a song crying out to God for help. Specifically, "James' reason for writing the lyrics was the thought of beeing cut off from the outside world just like the main character of Dalton Trumbo's book/movie "Johnny Got His Gun"." from [www.encycmet.com]
By the way, playing this song on Guitar Hero is going to fucking rock!
all I have to say is #!@*% yeah!
