Leaked PS3 Sales Figures Spark Investigation

You may or may not have noticed, but whenever we post British sales charts, that's all we can post. Charts. Actual sales figures aren't disclosed by Chart Tracker, the guys collecting the data. Subscribers to their service are given the actual figures, for both games and hardware, but on the condition they don't tell anyone. Yes, I know that defeats the purpose. Only on "special occasions", like console launches, are actual numbers released.

Anyways, this week, despite there being no special occasion, the numbers got out. And showed that in three weeks, the PS3 has gone from 165,000 units sold to 34,000 to 17,000. Ouch. The numbers also showed that the Wii, despite being routinely sold-out across Britain, outsold it by 8,000 units. Chart Track are none too pleased about the leak, and are currently conducting an investigation into who spilled the beans.

Because, you know. Sales figures are highly classified information. Can't have the public getting their hands on them. There's no telling what conclusions they'll come to.
