Japanese commercial TV executives are not happy. See, their ratings are on the decline, and they're on the decline across the board. Which has a little to do with the "cyclical" nature of programming, but a whole lot more to do with that Nintendo Wii. An executive at TBS, a major commercial network in Japan, bemoans:
The quality of programming has always been a little cyclical in Japan, but there has never been a period of decline like the one we are seeing now. There are outside factors at work. One is people watching TV on their cell phones where we can't track them, but the really big factor is the time people are spending on the Wii.What they need is TV shows about the Wii. That'll fix it. Or shows about the Wii and DS. Just to be safe.
