Been a while since we posted a gaming tattoo. Time to rectify that. This, here, is a gaming tattoo, and what it lacks in penmanship it more than makes up for simply by being a Grim Fandango tattoo. That's some well-directed dedication right there.
Grim Fandango tattoo [BBPS]

what an awful looking tattoo
Yuck.
Looks fake, like its been drawn on with a felt tip pen.
Man, i always wanted to play that game. I know a Monkey Island or two have been ported, but how come consoles dont often see the point-and-click games like this, Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle etc?
Looks awesome, and for anyone that says it's fake, i'm gonna brain them. ALL new tattoo's look like this, very shiny and like they've been drawn on with a marker.
I love this kind of dedication. Shame the actual tattoo isn't that well done.
When are people going to learn to get quality tattoos from quality artists?
Oh well, nice idea.
Yeah - It just looks like it has been photographed seconds after completition.
I'm about half way through a shoulder-to-wrist Bubble Bobble/Rainbow Island sleave tattoo (my whole arm covered), but since those god-awful remakes this year, I might just chop my arm off (or poke out everyones' eyes).
@TheIrishNinja: Grim Fandango isn't a point-and-click game, you control Manny directly.
Still love the game, totally still in my top 5 of all time. That tattoo is rubbish though
Get a fucking grip lads. Its Grim Fandango, the guy could smear shit up his arm in a vague Manny portrait and I'd still think it would look cool as fuck.
Maybe not smell that way.
@TheIrishNinja: The wii is dying to be turned into a lucas-arts point and click machine. Day of the Tentacle for the V.C. with wiimote support?
I agree with Mazen. I know it's true good tattoos aren't cheap and cheap tattoos aren't good, and all that stuff about it being on you for life means you should wait a few years to find the right artist, but some things just suit a slightly dodgy tattoo, and GF does
Shut your whiny fucking mouths. It's a GRIM FANDANGO tattoo. He could have scribbled it with pink ink on the end of a rusty syringe and it would still be the best thing EVER.
@hjohny2k5: Usually, fresh tattoos have red borders from the irritated skin. I can't tell whether this is real or not, but I'd definitely not bet any money either way.
But yeah, despite the fact that it looks really bad, it's Grim Fandango, so... great! :-)
@hjohny2k5: @L_K_M: lol was just gonna say the samething about that comment. Also I dont care how much he loves the Game..he'll be looking at that for the rest of his life. The least he could have done was make it look decent
@Spadgy: THAT I want to see. The good thing is that bad remakes/sequels will largely be forgotten, whereas the classic Bubble Bobble will go down in history, so best not to make yourself disabled. :)
I want a gaming tattoo, but I can't land on anything certain yet. My next tat is going to be the Homonculus Ouroboros from FMA, but after that one I think I'll sit down and come up with something. But it sure as shit will look better than this one does... people really need to go to good artists!
I want one of those.
Where are my felts?
Nothing beats my silent hill tattoo anyway. Haha, i'm sure many of you will disagree though. Still waiting for Luke to post the finished pic so i can put my flame suit on and let the virtual beating begin.
The one thing everyone should always remember is that if the person whos got it done loves it, no one elses opinion matters.
A) I think the tattoo looks pretty good if you ask me.
B) This picture has been on Double Fine's website for a while now, check it out. The fan in question showed it to Tim Schafer at a convention of some kind.
C) I also have a Grim Fandango tattoo but after seeing how brutal all of you internet folk I refrained from posting it. I'd had mine since march of 2006.
@Plunkett: fuckin' A
@simulazn: I'm thinking of getting the Homonculus Ouroboros from FMA too but I just make up my mind as to where I should get it.
@Jesse Mrozowski: Placement is kind of key... I'm getting mine on my arm, but it wasn't my first choice. Since I'm a chick, I wanted to get it over my left boob like Lust or on my sternum like Sloth. But I already have a tat on my right boob, so the first was out, and getting one on my sternum would rule out too much in the way of clothing choices when it came to work for me.
Then again, none of the guys placements are any good... I mean you have the eye, the tounge, the back of the hand, the thigh, and the bottom of the foot. None of those are exactly ideal. So just get it where it will look good on you. :)
@Plunkett: Manny for the win.
Ignore these philistines.
I've got to play this game! Time to troll eBay....
@simulazn:
I was leaning towards top of the foot, not quite the same as the bottom but at least I get to see it. Either that or the thigh. I have a suspicion that I'd be required to weaar sandals for a few weeks which is a no go at work. I'd actually love to get it on my hand but I won't do it for the same reason you won't get your sternum. I actually started thinking about where the ones from the manga have them because a few of them have it in different places but that just opens up the option of putting it over one of my shoulder baldes.
I found a pretty good vector graphic of it online somewhere if you want me to I could find the link for you. I think it was an eps file.
Bah! All you people
. . . are going crazy over a Grim Fandango tat, yet no one shows me any respect for my totallt badass tat from Kings Quest VII: The Princeless Bride.
@Jesse Mrozowski: That would actually be pretty wicked of you... I do PS a lot and just figured I was going to have to vector it myself.
@simulazn:
Found the link: http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/categories/television/1340...
You need to let me know how it turns out.
@Jesse Mrozowski: Fabulous! Thank you very much. I'll definitely let you know when I finally get the cash for it and get off my ass!
@simulazn:
Yeah - being serious I do love it still. Just can't wait to finish it. I'm so skint I started getting in done in 2005 and I still have half to go.
No idea how I'd show you a pic though
@Weresmurf: I agree.
Ugh. I hate how every time there is a tattoo post, like ten people say it looks fake (and those people most likely don't have any tattoos). That tattoo looks real, and looks like it is old enough that it's not red around the ink, and new enough that it's still healing over which is why it looks shiny and wet.
I have several all-black tattoos and people constantly think they are marker or something even with them being several years old.
I love Grim Fandango, but I don't think I'd ever get a tattoo of Manny Calavera. And this tattoo looks off, whoever the tattoo artist was didn't do a very good job.
I also fail to see how that's a bad tattoo. Most of the Mario bullshit I've seen has excessive coloring and looks like it's been done in prison. This at least is cool artwork that could also be appreciated by non-gamers.
This is easily the best gaming tattoo we've seen so far.
^On Kotaku
@Neo_Deus:
word. i dont even have a tattoo and that wasn't so hard to realize.. ive heard good things about this game tho..
Oh, poor guy, he'll have to live with that ugly thing forever. As long as he likes it though.
