This is different. Sean Howard is attempting something he's calling the "300 challenge". His goal?
Every day for three hundred days, I will post a gameplay mechanic that has (hopefully) never been seen in a commercial video game. Three hundred mechanics. No more. No less.
As of writing, he's up to 22, and while some are more of a rehash than an entirely new mechanic, it's still a pretty interesting sight to behold. My favourite so far is Vehicle Tactics, which is basically turn-based Excitebike, but the banner-ad RPG is also nice and fresh.
Will he get to 300? He might, but I doubt he'll get there with 300 brand-new ideas. Still, it might be worth keeping an eye on, because if he can keep this standard up for another 50-100 games it'll still be a tidy achievement.
