GameStop may or may not start taking Wii pre-orders on Friday, but the Nintendo World Store in New York City have been churning through the pre-orders since last week.
A store employee I talked to a little earlier today said that it takes just $50 to guarantee your Wii console on launch day, and that you won't have to line-wait or camp out to get yours, just show up.
As of now the store has no limit on how many guaranteed pre-orders they can take, but that might change he said. I asked how many they have sold so far and all he could tell me was that it was more 1,000 units.
If you're in New York City and plan to be their on launch day, you might want to do your Nintendo pre-order there. [Thanks Mai]
