Sega Saturn NiGHTS could be getting that long-over-due sequel gossips Famitsu. The game's creator Yuji Naka has publically stated he's against NiGHTS 2, TWO NiGHTS, Another NiGHT, NiTE NiGHT or whatever they're gonna call it. He told the a British Dreamcast mag in 2000: ""I know a lot of people love it and want us to make a sequel, but for us it's a really important game. Like the way Spielberg likes E.T. so much he won't remake it, I don't want to make another NiGHTS." Then, how about E.T. 2?

First Keita Takahashi, now Yuji Naka? What is it with these guys? They act like their game is some untouchable piece of high art. They need to come down to earth a little here and realize that companies need to make money for them to even have a game industry to work in. I met Yuji Naka and he struck me as very smug. Hopefully I just caught him at a bad time.
I remember reading something he said years ago about why he didn't want to make a Nights sequel. Basically he and Sonic Team had put themselves in that world and had pored over the original game so much already that after completing it they really just wanted to do other things and going back to it doesn't sound very fun. I wonder though if by now they aren't starting to get a little nostalgic and thinking about what Nights could be like today. I know I could definitely handle a RevMote driven edition in that wicked 2.5D.
if the game is so high and mighty (and it just may be) why doesn't Naka do a next-gen remake with better graphics and controls? People who have never played it deserve the experience.
OMG, worst font ever... and purple on purple text. design genius... -_-
I can see why he thinks that, but he has no balls. Imagine if Miyamoto had thought so highly of SMB that he said "it's perfect, I'm not doing another". Even though Super Mario Sunshine dosn't compare to SM64, I'm glad Miyamoto at least tried, which is more than you can say for many directors as of late. What does Naka and sonic team have to loose? They already have a somewhat negative rap for messing up the sonic franchise. People who loved nights will still love nights. They really have an oppertunity to regain respect here.
Yes, spielburg liked ET so much he made a special edition with walky talkies. Not the best example.
They should NEVER make a remake of Nights Into Dreams. For the simple reason was that the game had a weird control style (very early analog) that just wouldnt cut it today. So either they would change it, and mess up a good game, or keep it, and all the new people to the series would scratch their heads in disbelief. Plus the fact that its just a pure classic...I treasure my copy (and xmas nights) and am glad its a "one of a kind" rarity. I'm just evil that way....
Recently I read about a game designer who was helping make a game about a "flying clown" with another designer famous for creating a "bearded fellow."
Most said it sounded like NiGHTS, but it was conflicting because Yuji Naka hasn't made any bearded fellows...
However, Dr. Robotnik was created by Naka, and the Dr. was originally going to be the main character in his game (and Sonic the bad guy? Can't remember,) but then one of Naka's artists created Sonic, and so the role(s) was changed. I'm not sure how it went exactly. I read about it a long time ago.
Robotnik doesn't really have a beard, and I may be grasping for straws, but whatever. :)
