Microsoft Not Giving Up On Halo Movie After Studio Drop Out

This is more than once I've seen that silly argument.

"Halo is a niche audience of hardcore gamers".

Hmm. The game, yes. Despite what we might think, most people don't play games yet.

But the FILM? The film of supersoldiers in space fighting aliens in spaceships with big guns and tanks and black sergeants shouting smack at privates and strange alien artifacts and computer personalities?

That is box office gold, as proven by action flicks since the beginning of cinema. People don't care where it came from, they don't even need to know it's based on a game. It's a sci-fi action film. It sells. Especially with the name Peter Jackson on it, for better or worse. "Halos fanbase" have nothing to do with cinema.

The game Bioshock? It's a tongue in cheek semi-sequel to the book 'Atlas Shrugged' by Ayn Rand. Did any of you know that? You didn't give a shit, and nor should you. Spiderman films? You think only comicbook nerds went to see those, or Xmen? Apocalypse Now, retelling of the book Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. Think that figured in its box office?

I hope that ridiculous line of reasoning is now put to rest.

Concerning the topic, I get the distinct impression from Bungie news that the way the deal was in the process of going down was not conducive to a quality, faithful adaptation with freedom from studio execs, and whatever happens going forward, even if it enters development hell and never comes out, is more positive than the result would have been.

Also MS wants $$$ that studios would quite like themselves.

I expect that English is not this person's first language. Its kind of hard to express yourself on a personal level when you've been taught a language from a totally formal/business perspective.

Likewise I doubt anybody here would be shy on the word count if they lost their jobs due to some bullshit corporate lawsuit.

Seems this story needs to be laid to rest if laughing at other people's misfortunes is all its good for.
