Xbox Live is getting more content to LIVE Marketplace, but this time they are broadening their range passed the usual categorical "gamer" programming which so far has mostly consisted of potty humor programming and B-rated movies. Although I enjoy both immensely, it's nice to see Microsoft going beyond the stereotype because, after all, they aren't a cable company and therefore don't need to keep such tight restraints on the kind of content they offer.
On June 11th (and just in time for Pride), XBL will be the first gaming console to offer programs from Logo, the network for the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender audience. Interestingly enough, earlier in the month, on June 6th, XBLwill offer shows from CMT (Country Music Television). This is fantastic for gay cowboy gamers, which I am sure exist, and probably have a forum somewhere. There are forums for everything these days.
Broad range of New Content Coming on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, the Television and Movie Download Service with Something for Everyone
Xbox 360 becomes the first gaming console to offer content from Logo, MTV Networks' channel for the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender audience; top anime distributors and CMT, the nation's #1 country music network
With 7,000 pieces of gaming and entertainment content and counting, Xbox LIVE Marketplace continues to grow as the only online service that offers high definition movies and TV shows for download. This June, the catalogue of content gets even better. With more than 15 entertainment partners, Xbox LIVE offers U.S. members at any age or gender a diverse array of great programming at the click of a button.
After having huge success on Xbox LIVE Marketplace with content from MTV, Comedy Central and VH1, this month MTV Networks is bringing two more properties to the service:
Country Music Television. On June 6, country music fans on Xbox LIVE will enjoy a great lineup of TV shows from CMT, the #1 country music network in the nation. Fans can download the first seasons of hit shows such as, "Comedy Stage," "Foxworthy's Big Night Out" and "Prankville" starting tomorrow, with more series and episodes rolling out this summer.
Logo. On June 11, Xbox 360 will become the first gaming console to offer content from Logo, the network for the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender audience from MTV Networks. Xbox LIVE will offer a bevy of popular Logo shows, from comedies "Wisecrack," and "The Big Gay Sketch Show," to scripted dramas like "Noah's Arc," and other programs including, "Curl Girls" and "Real Momentum Documentaries."
Beginning June 12, two of the biggest anime distributors in the US will join current Xbox LIVE partner ADV Films with popular shows, movies, gamer pics and themes, making LIVE Marketplace an unparalleled online source for quality anime content:
FUNimation. The epic adventure series "Samurai 7," adapted from Akira Kurosawa's legendry film "Seven Samurai," is coming to Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Also coming from FUNimation: "Trinity Blood," "Gunslinger Girl," and "Basilisk."
Geneon Entertainment. Die-hard fans and those new to the genre alike will enjoy the U.S. HD debut of the anime classic "Akira," available exclusively from Geneon on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Also available from Geneon Entertainment at launch: "Gun Sword," "Last Exile," "Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo" and "Lupin the 3rd."
June will also bring award-winning films and blockbuster hits to Xbox LIVE Marketplace, starting with 'Team America World Police,' which launched in HD on the service on June 1st. Other top new films coming this month include:
Dreamgirls
Letters from Iwo Jima
Shooter
Black Snake Moan
Pan's Labyrinth

Rule 34.
Ah yes... Rule 34...
That just isnt gay, that is hillbilly gay!
:-p
To celebrate this wonderful combination XBL will be offering free downloads of Brokeback Mountain all day.
I'm so happy there's yet more stuff europe can't watch.
@RonJeremy4Pres:
*zing*
@Von Linus: I know! Please keep it coming so I can continue to pay Microsoft to aquire the rights to ditribute media in countries I do not live in(!) Please(!)
I don't see this panning out too well...
That's great.
Can I download it Canada yet?
No? Well buggers then.
HD Akira :O

I wonder what insightful things the homophobe/racist/douchebag/gangster demographic will have to say about this during games of uno
@skobar: Nice, to this day im suprised that "dreams" made it on there
@interstellarpig:
*mute* /wink
While I can appreciate the humor here, I have to say that both make perfect sense to me as good fits for the 360.
CMT is as big as MTV for the fans of Country music, and I could see a lot of folks wanting to download stuff.
As for LOGO, that could actually be quite big simply because VERY FEW cable companies carry LOGO and I'm pretty sure that the DVD's of programming sell quite well. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and even we don't have LOGO (at least not in all parts of it).
And, yes--I've known gay gamers, gay cowboys, and cowboy gamers. I'm not sure if I've ever met the combination of all three--but I assure you they're out there ;)
Pans labyrinth!!!
get it! watch it! or I will hit you 6 times in the face with 6 different chairs!
Note to All: Give black Snake Moan a chance, best Samuel L performance since Jacky Brown..really amazing movie
3rd for Rule 34.

XXXbox live...
Hmmm lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender audience? Aint that the Limetime channel?
I can't wait to see the inevitable claims that somehow, some way, DLC turned somebody's kid gay.
And, ooh, anime!
@drack48:
And Cristina Ricci's nice (oYo)'s!
Oh for god's sake, we can get the gay channel, but not more Space Ghost C2C episodes? PRIORITIES.
@aden.exe: Or twelve times with a wine bottle.
call me when they make a deal to offer playboy tv and the spice channel
@KaneRobot:
Tell me about it....
They had my hopes up when I saw ABC up there with a show when it launched [hopes for LOST in HD] ... but with the newest update that added the Marketplace blade, ABC is no longer there :-(
THIS is how the xbox media center should be done.
Not with a "Lets force this player that is rarely in use" But with a "If you want it, we'll supply it. But you don't have to."
@dunetiger:
Well, ok, but I'd need 12 different wine bottles.
Its just the way I do things.
I for one just can't WAIT for the first claims of "XBL turned my son GAY!"
Err. Ignore me. I'm having strange browser issues.
Where the hell is FOX?
Anime downloads might be pretty cool. As someone who is neither gay or a cowboy, the LOGO and CMT offers don't entice me much.
But yeah, some XXXBox LIVE downloads for HD pr0n would be pretty sweet...
@RonJeremy4Pres: Yeah as soon as I saw the two logos, I knew that comment was going to show up sooner or later, I'm just surprised it took four people to get to it. :P
@interstellarpig:
You should see the thread on this over at Team Xbox.
Logo and CMT...Also known as the Kenny Chesney demographic.
Transgender gamers. Thats some freaky sh!t.
I think the Reverend Horton Heat already wrote a song about this: "Cowboy Love".
@Nexus6: Because as we know, they don't play games. It's just a myth. :P
@Tybee:
OOOOOOOH SNAP!
While I think that Logo and CMT are incredibly niche, it's nice that Microsoft is catering to everyone here.
@Nexus6: One of the founders of Electronic Arts was a transgendered person.
While i don't see much success for CMT, the rest of the new content, will likely find their own audiences on XBL.I'll be going nuts on all the anime(that i don't already own on dvd), that's for sure.
I'll download Logo content. "Big Gay Sketch Show" is hilarious.
@Brinstar:
Very true.... just died recently I think.
Still... no... content... in... UK... must... not... post... another... comment... about... it... D'oh!
