When 42 year-old David Williams (pictured) called the police to complain about kids prank calling him, he expected help. What he didn't expect was to have armed police kick his door in, Point Break-style, and lock him up. Why the sudden change of fortunes?
David owns a "computer shop", and had a life-sized statue of Lara Croft in his front room. In a pose where she's holding a gun. The police, arriving on the scene, peeked through the windows and saw a silhouetted figure holding a weapon. So they blocked off the street and sent armed police in to arrest the "suspect". Which turned out to be "a mannequin holding a toy weapon".
Mannequin or no mannequin, Williams was still arrested on firearms charges and held for 13 hours. Can't see why. Would YOU confuse this man with a criminal?
