According to Richard Teversham, a marketing manager for Xbox Europe, Microsoft's going to fight back against the PS3 launch with some surprises of their own.
"I don't want to reveal any plans at the moment because we want to keep a number of surprises up our sleeve. We will ensure we are good value and we'll do that through having a variety of pricing on games, a variety of pricing on console offers," said Richard Teversham, a marketing manager for Xbox Europe, in an interview with MCV UK publication.
Some are speculating this refers to a price drop, but my bet is his comment about "a variety of princing on console offers" is probably more along the lines of bundling, where the 'discount' actually comes out of the profit margin of the bundled games or accessories, not the cost of the 360 itself.

If it is anything like the current PGR bundle, I will remain unimpressed. While everyone figured that the bundle would debut at $399, I have only seen it for $489 or $499. Even if it drops to $400, I still do not see this as a magical pricepoint. I will be avoiding the 360 until I can get a non-gimped one at $300 with wifi. If this never materializes, I will likely never get one, especially considering how little I have used my XBox compared to my PS2 and Gamecube.
I, on the other hand, am searching for a reason to get a 360 now. Once the Wii comes out, that will occupy most of my dwindling free time. If MS wants to get me, they better get a good bundle out before the Wii hits. Otherwise, I will be content to wait a couple of years for the PS3 to become much cheaper, for the software to demonstrate which system is better as a back-up to the Wii, or to see which console will "win" the battle of the best console not made by Nintendo.
I can see totally a $399 for a premium system with 1-2 games. Makes the system more attracitve especially during xmas time. You can get a PS3 with no games for $600, or a totally decked out XBOX 360 for $399 with gmaes not to mention games like games like GoW out as well. Looks like it'll be an interesting xmas season kiddies.
The true scheme is that MS is pairing up with Nintendo to offer consumers the option of paying either $600 for a PS3 or $650 for a 360 and Wii...players choice.

wow, i really don't give a crap what price xbox has to offer. i know alot of people feel the same way. It's been out for almost a year now and there are still no games not even one game that i want to play on the 360. fuk ur halfass back/comp. fuk gay pay to play online games that you already own. fuk you stupid people for paying them. paying 5 bucks to add new stuff for your game seem really stupid, they should of just it put it in the first place so they have to charge more.

game developers don't put all things made into the game when you buy it. they hold back some of the stuff so they can charge the morons that pay for it in xbla. ooooooooooohhhhhhhh get more for you game but get less when you first pay 60 bucks for it ok.

And the PS3 has been confirmed by Sony to have free online play? They said free matchmaking at E3, but you can't USE the free matchmaking unless you can play online, which hasn't been confirmed to be free. If it really was free, then I think they wouldn't be so vague about the subject. They'd just release a press release proving that all online play is free and stop the doublespeak.

Yes... EVERY 360 game is 6 hours long. It's not like every PS3 game is going to be 50 hours long. This just proves your ignorance even more. Also, have fun paying $70 for those same 6 hour games on PS3.
