Following Universal Pictures' and 20th Century Fox's announced cinema interruptus this past Thursday, the folks at Redmond swam out of the cash filled pool long enough to give the following statement regarding the financial status of the Halo movie adaptation.

We are disappointed that Universal wanted to significantly renegotiate the financial points of the deal. We are already in discussions with potential partners who recognize the value of the 'Halo' brand.

Maybe someone at Fox and/or Universal were annoyed by that "We Won't Make Any Money On This Movie" clause.

What do you guys think? Sound financial move by Hollywood execs or missed opportunity to reap huge profit? I'm going to go with the former as I don't think the Halo fan-base is wide enough to pull the mega-budget film into the black. Now, if this were the movie adaptation of, say, Microsoft Word, I'd say that's a safe bet. Michael McWhertor
