We already knew Prince of Persia was getting the silver screen treatment, and that Jerry Bruckheimer is going to be the man behind it, but we didn't know who was going to be sitting in the director's chair. Do now. And you'll never guess who it is.
Bruckheimer has teamed up with him in the past to bring you Bad Boys I and II, The Rock, Pearl Harbor and Armageddon. Yes, that's right, Michael Bay is directing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for a Summer '09 release.
No kidding. And you know what, I'm not too fussed. See, Transformers has some serious canon behind it, while Prince of Persia does not. So he can do what he wants with it - indeed, Jordan Mechner has already said as much. Which means we can all relax and just enjoy a standard Bruckheimer/Bay blockbuster. Expect slow-motion chariot/wagon chases and, God willing, EXPLODING HORSES.
