Most cosplay fails from either poor costume construction or the revealing of too much unruly flesh. Few want to see Tifa reimagined as a heroine whose shorts are bursting at the seams with layers of manifested laziness, one reason why the generally slender cosplayers in Japan are held in high regard in such circles. Thankfully, this Metroid Prime-style Samus Aran cosplay, as performing by Swedish student Jenni Källberg hits all the right marks. Good outfit, adequate wig, excellent details and a distinct lack of body sloppiness. Many more photos at the link below.
Final score: A-.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!
Samus Aran Cosplay [Pixelninja]

Comments
Wow, even more realistic detail than the games. Definitely more decent and accurate than most cosplay.
Everything is perfect, but the arms... the arms they are so skinny!
is her face real?
dang, she's smokin,
sorry to state the obvious
DO WANT!
proof if you're goin to do somethin you should do it properly
Men, den grymmaste saken här är at hon ÄR ju från Sverige.
Epic Lawls. Måste komma till Sverige att få nån bra Cosplay. Bra jobbat här måste jag säga.
Kör på.
I think that if Samus ever has a voice she should have a Russian accent. That would make her even more exotic. If they ever have a live action movie I hope they go for a Maxim magazine type blonde for when she has the helmet off but an athlete for when her helmet is on. She should be the unbelievably perfect woman.
awesome cosplay.
To be quite honest, I think it looks better with the helmet on.
It being faintly lit up from the inside, so you can see the faint outline of a face is just.. Perfect!

She is GOOD.
hey, that's my mom!
Just wanted to say two things:
1 - mostly awesome, but I don't think anything will top that Tifa cosplayer whose picture I can't find now.
2 - The phrase "bursting at the seams with layers of manifested laziness" was excellent. You Kotaku writers and your fanciful writing. :)
She needs a bigger body suit to offset the size of the helmet. But that's my only gripe with it.
That's a good cosplay, I wanted to make my girlfriend dress up as Samus.
I'll take a few notes from this cosplay.
I think she's a tad too skinny to pull off the whole look, the shoulder pads come to mind quickly; her arms just look too small coming out of them in some of the pics.
Overall though, I like how well done the costume is.
The other cosplay galleries on that page are excellent as well.
@blehh:
And your dad's Master Chief? Or Megaman?
Easy on the eyes in so many ways. Well done.
This woman does a good job, portrays Samus' likeness well. I can only imagine the disaster Michelle Rodriguez is going to do for the Live action film, if that's still in production.
@Indy_aka_Rex:
You I think if she adds any more weight, I think her arms'll snap like a twig.
Master Chief finally has a date!
Impressive! /bow
Very nice. Great costume, cute girl, this picture has it all. Love the blood splatter on the torso armor; nice touch.
Sweet. Good job on the costume, and good looking lady to go along with it. :-D
OMG she even has, what I would assume as, LEDs inside the helmet! Very Nice. I have a new favorite Cos-Player.
She also has a light inside the cannon as well.
Sry I am writing this as I gaze at the pictures. I am in awe.
I can see that her helmet is probably just a regular helmet for a motorcycle. The unproportional helmet reminds me of the cartoon drawings that I saw when Metroid first came out on the NES. My Gawd is that a nice costume, sry still can't get over it.
This has its issues, of course, but it is very good given the complexity. One easy thing that should be fixed is that the hair should not be showing with the helmet on.
hot costume..hot girl....though...you think she actually made the suit?
I think the arms should be a little bigger, but everything else is fantastic. The helmet is amazingly done, moreso than the rest.
Slightly disappointed at no rolling-in-a-ball pics, though.
There is NO right way to do Cosplay...
I found that picture yesterday!
Its baffling how much earlier stuff shows up on 4chan..
blonde asians...
weird
@sophist: I wish that was the case. Sadly, there are elitist who think otherwise, and because of that mentality that floats around cosplaying, I'd hate to even bother trying. There's no fun in it when all people do is gripe about what they think it wrong or what they think it right... it's far too subjective.
If I play her, does she get nude?
@Scrapple: Swedish
Mmm, cutie.
@kimcheese: You couldn't be more right.
Maybe i just don't get cosplay.
wow, that is super excellent.
She done real good there. Her build is too lithe for Samus (who's what, a 6'4 and genetically modified amazon), but i've never seen anyone come closer.
In the spirit of cosplay I have to give that a "Kick ass"
Seeing how I agree there is no right way to "do" cosplay it's just something people have fun with! Some put more time in than others and get a more fun outfit! But if you ask me, it's all in the spirit of games/anime and the fun they bring us all!
hubba hubba
its really well done, she should do zero suit samus as well you know just to be ready for SSBB...I'll stop talking now
one word for this:
wife
yeah she'd get it.
Does she ever change her expression?
The Hunter! What a great job on the costume - really nailed the look.
From the comments I guess I'm the only one that isn't a fan of zero suit Samus. To me, Metroid/Samus IS the classic suit/visor. Zero-suit is just some blonde chick in a tights which we are already innundated with as gamers.
Excellent job! Now, if she'd only move to Brooklyn **grumble grumble**. I'm rooming with the burst yer britches in all the wrong places rinoa. I need to upgrade!
Hey, I know her, thats blehh's mom!
"Tifa reimagined as a heroine whose shorts are bursting at the seams with layers of manifested laziness"
Pics or it didn't happen.
...
Guys?
I can't imagine how much time and effort that took.
But can she curl in a ball?
The only thing that looks bad in that cosplay is the helmet. Its too round, everything else is win.
@blehh: dude i would so do your mom
got milf?
DO WANT!
If you look like Elvis Presley at the end of his career, DO NOT COSPLAY.
This cosplay sucks...the design is accurate, but it's image is way off. It's not even bulky like the MP series nor it's using metal. So..as a cosplay it fails, as a regular costume...it's designed well.
