Suda51 Announcing Something Soon to Somebody

Vague, I realize. Goichi Suda, Killer7 creator, tells SEGA brownman Toshihiro Nagoshi that he'll be announcing something in the next few weeks. No More Heroes is a while off, and Suda's got his fingers in several pies, so I'm curious: What is he announcing? Info about his Snatcher project with Kojima? His proposed PS3 game? His unannounced Xbox 360? What? Like I said, I'm curious.

Xbox Japan Honcho At Metal Gear Event

After party is just getting started. Big time industry names like Mizuguchi and Suda51 are about. One, though, stands out. Xbox Japan honcho Takashi Sensui makes his way through the crowd. I pull him aside:
ME: "What did you think of the MGS4 gameplay demo?"
HIM: "It was very good."
"Why are there still rumors that MGS4 will appear on the Xbox 360?"
"What do you mean?"
"Kojima appeared on stage at a Sony event, saying it was an exclusive. But the rumors won't stop."
"Many of our users want MGS4 on the Xbox 360."
"Will they get it?"
"Ask him."
Sensui points to Kojima on stage.
"I don't mean to be rude," I say, "but why are you here then?"
"Kojima is an old friend of mine."

Doors Open at Half Past

And we are in — we being me. The actual event kicks off at 5:30PM, which means we've got less thirty minutes to kill. The hallway is crowded with flowers from Sony execs like Kaz Hirai, suits and some guy in a white t-shirt. The dress code for tonight's event? Business casual.

New Digs

Roppongi Station. It's a little before 5PM Tokyo time, and I've touched down in the newly gentrified section of the city known as Tokyo Midtown. Kojima Productions and Konami, previously located in the Mori Building in Roppongi Tower, relocated to Midtown earlier this year — along with pretty much everyone else in Roppongi Hills with some semblance of the hip and the cool. (Roppongi Hills, once the city's swank and swish, has sense been tarnished by internet company LiveDoor's white collar crime.) Or maybe Konami wanted its name on the side of a building.
