Japan Celebrates New Year With Nintendo Purchases

NO JOKEAnother week of Japanese sales charts, another week of Nintendo domination. Ten of the top ten games sold during the week of 1/1 to 1/7 are all for a Nintendo platform—8 Nintendo DS games, 2 Nintendo Wii games.

Here are the top ten games sold in Japan, according to Media Create, for the first week of 2007.

3. Wii Play (Wii) 141,702 / 664,512
4. New Super Mario Bros. (DS) 128,211 / 3,986,506
5. General Knowledge Training (DS) 109,752 / 1,063,093
6. More Brain Training (DS) 99,320 / 3,805,787
7. Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS) 94,917 / 3,843,832
8. Pok mon Diamond (DS) 94,370 / 2,479,819
9. Kirby Squeak Squad (DS) 93,522 / 836,588
10. Pok mon Pearl (DS) 78,398 / 2,054,443
