If you're a fan of mud-spurting, flame-spitting funny cars, the kind of a truck enthusiast whose ears don't perk up unless their of the "monster" variety, you may want to keep tabs on the Monster Jam truck schedule. Oh, if you like Donkey Kong, you might want to pay attention extra hard. Nintendo let us know today that the Donkey Kong Monster Jam truck will make its first public appearance this weekend, at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It will race against other trucks that are considered monstrous and could very well run over some things.
According to a press release we were handed, Nintendo VP George Harrison said "Donkey Kong has always been a force to be reckoned with. The new Donkey Kong truck lets us show off his rowdy behavior to his fans, whether they have been playing his games for decades or just discovered them." Somehow, I just can't picture him saying this. It seems forced.

Is this what Nintendo does after having more money than they know what to do with?
Seems like Nintendo wants everybody but their core gamers still ... oh wait, they know they are loyal to bone and would give Miyamoto their first born if need be!
Never mind I said anything!
No they do this regardless of how much cashflow. Case in point Donkey Konga, DDR Mario Mix, etc.
@EnigmaNemesis: Ignorance must really be bliss for ya huh?
Just pouting away and crying about Nintendo all the time without acknowledging the fact that they were able to go from 3rd to 1st in the console race within a year. But don't worry, your sardonic comments and child-like attitude are the epitome of a poser-gamer. So keep posting away.
He's finally here, performing for you
the first member of the DK Crew HUH
D. K.! Donkey Kong! HEY!
D. K.! Donkey Kong is here!
@cellshadedninja: Sales Numbers invalidate opinions? I had no idea.
After seeing the picture, I thought this would be a Donkey Kong racer. I would have like that. Mario Kart is one of the best series ever created, and an off road DK Kart would be pretty cool. Speaking of which, is some kind of DK racing game coming to the Wii. I vaugly remember hearing about this at one point or another.
Is it called "Donkey Kong Monster Jam truck?" That seems like an odd name.
@altgod: It was already released but it isn't really worth anyone's time.
Although an Donkey Kong Monster Truck/Animal Racer would be interesting. Donkey Kong, monster trucks, and crazy Rhinos all demolishing everything would be a very interesting mix. I'm curious of how it would work.
@WasabiJoe: Don't do that again.
Enigmanemesis-So you're saying Nintendo is disregarding their core fanbase by decorating a truck with images of Donkey Kong,Nintendo's first big hit and a 20+ year old classic? Yeah,longtime video game players certainly have no affinity for DK.
Jojjos-Monster Jam is the name of the TV show the truck will appear on. The truck is just called Donkey Kong.
You guys can bag all over this,call it marketing to casuals,shout about how your Wii gathers dust,or whatever. As far as I'm concerned anyone who's coconut gun can fire in spurts is a friend of mine.
What I do know is that DK needs a really good game and he needs it now. Nintendo has abused him with jets and now he gets the monster truck. Give me the DK platformer everyone WANTS!
@Moonshadow101:
Yes, because opinions are not allowed if they disagree with your own. Thus comes int he pser-gamer and fanboy brigades.
Ah well ... they are my opinions, and I am sticking to them.
Sell 100 million in a week for all I care, when you have 1 decent game every 6 months, and dont pull that shit I am in the know, it is meaningless to ME MYSELF and I.
DK makes a desant truck, but what was realy needed here was a fire breathing Bowser truck.
DK Monster Trucks... that would make an awesome DS game.
I believe George's original quote was "OMFG Donkey Kong Monster Truck! Fans are gonna go fucking apeshit!"
Umm... can we get to the truly great games that DON'T involve 20-year-old Nintendo mascots sometime soon?
You know - like, before the passing of another year?
@EnigmaNemesis:
It's not Nintendo's job to make a good game every month. As a publisher, they actually put out more AAA games in a year than any other publisher. I guess that's why they beat out EA as the #1 publisher.
I can understand your opinion. The games aren't for you. I have my own opinion, too. There isn't a single game out for the 360 that I would pay full price for. All of the games are short and/or not fun. Just one man's opinion ;)
@kidnicky:
Ahh, I'm slow.
@cringer8:
/hi5
@cringer8: I think the difference is that you don't go into 360 threads just to spout out this same opinion over and over again.
Not to say that some people don't.
Whatever system you like best, it's getting old. I realize what pisses me off isn't fanboyism and it's not hardcore/casual or any of that other crap, it's just that whenever I click on comments for any console story, I know that every:
Wii thread will have "omg no good games casuals lol"
360 thread will have "omg only FPSs red rings lol"
PS3 thread will have "omg no good games 3rd place lol"
And then I'll contribute to the problem by posting something like this. It's getting old. Can't we just make DK rap jokes and call it a day?
@Debaser:
Oh come on, this is really a turdish marketing stunt ... I mean come on, MONSTER TRUCKS?
@EnigmaNemesis: MONSTER TRUCKS!
And they the hell not? We'd better see a LOT of barrel smashing!
@Sabre_Justice:
And Italian Plumbers and chicks in Pink Prom Dresses?
I dont think ones who go to those things could handle such excitement!
@EnigmaNemesis:
Actually it's just Donkey Kong. Nice try though.
@GizFanAlpha:
What no love for DK Rap?
.........Rap Truck Monster Jam....
*cough*
@EnigmaNemesis: every time you reply, you always have to defend yourself with the "I`have the RIGHT to opinion!!!!!" i see it in every thread you had to reply to.
Really, don't you get the general idea that your comments always seem to be on the verge of trolling?
but then again this is just a opinion, so no need to reply to this one. :)
@Onizuka-GTO:
Watch out Onizuka, he'll come back with his incredibly clever "silicon and plastic" retort, and THEN you'll be sorry...
