Leggy Peach. Midgets in costume. Camel-toed mutant Mario. Bowser as a centaur. No, it's not Super Mario Bros. via Fellini or Pasolini, but might as well be. Reader Aaron found "unusual depiction" of the Mario universe at retro shop Game Tanteidan in Osaka's Den-Den Town. It's difficult to see what the print outs say, but they seem to track Mario's rise to fame and fortune. Strangeness abound sure, but what baffles me isn't why some Japanese store has tacked this up, but why Mario is driving Mario?

That pretty well sums it up.
I'd say Bowser's more Satyr-ish than Centaur-ish in that image (Centaur = body of a horse (or possibly other 4-legged animal) with a humanoid torso attached where the horses neck would be).
In the middle of the left-hand page, it looks like Hunter S. Thompson is offering Mario some more of whatever kind of mushroom he's eating.
Come on, it makes PERFECT Sense why Mario is driving Mario...
It's normal Mario in the drivers seat, and "Racoon Mario" waving around like a maniac...
Seems like it's an allegory for living with an addiction, the sane part is the one allowing the addict to go willy nilly...
