This is the same level keynote attendees were shown during a live play session with Phil Harrison and the LittleBigPlanet team. Both real-time demonstrations we watched played out a little differently and the GDC keynote crowd exploded when the game was shown.
This is the biggest thing to come out of GDC07. Hyperbole? Yes, probably. Is the game worth it? Yes, probably.

Publify that bad-boy! Engage!
holy crap that's cute
I don't understand it, but I love it. I might even make love to it.
Alright, I'ma have that orgasm now.
Wow.
That looks positivly amazing. That's what I've always been hopeing the next-gen would result in, but I had serious doubts that anybody would actually make it happen (instead of making brown 3d-shooter after brown 3d-shooteR)
Bravo. That might be for me, a killer app.
Simply amazing.
Holy shit! That looks amazing!!!
Holy crap! That was amazing! I don't even know the point of this game and I want it! I'm 30 years old and that clip made me giggle like a schoolgirl.
The Go! Team song is a nice touch.
That looks rad.
Wow, that looks great.
Release date?
Excellent. This is the type of thing that makes me want ps3.
I like the idea of it, but how much fun could it be to do this without "consequences"? You know... enemies. Will it get boring? I am not trying to be the pessimist here, because I like plenty of pointless games, but a platformer needs something to squash/kill you. I'll definitely check it out because the idea is interesting, but I feel like I'm not as gung-ho as the rest of you.
Also, was it me or were some of those characters having a heckuva time doing the tasks? And I mean the ones as simple as jumping on the ball...
I love how the little astronaut-like one keeps getting left behind.
Wow, just wow.... that looks awesome.
When people can sit there and think to themselves about how fun a game would be to play with their friends, then you've got somthing.
And I just did that.
Thats some cool looking shizzam!
One word: WANT.
5 words: holy shit that looks awesome.
Makes me feel bad spending money on my 360, after the wireless adapter and Xbox live fees for a service that looks like old school AOL menu. The PS3 would at least give me 60 gigs and that new HOME thing. 360 is really not worth the cash.
What the hell is it?
This is what the PS3 needs and the whole next gen needs as a whole.
Wow. That looks amazing. I'd love to see a high def. video of that.
First impressive thing I've seen out of Sony in three years.
hi-def gameplay is up at gametrailers and looks fantasticalllll
wow i am totally impressed with sony. In the past month or so, we've seen several analysts change their long term outlook on the PS3 to one of positivity and the possibility of it remaining #1. If this is the kind of stuff that they knew about, I would say that Sony knows what we want and is finally giving it to us. Cant wait to see what else is in store for the PS3 later this year.
Time to start saving.
Wow, that looks pretty nice. Its kinda cartoony but really am impressed at how realistic the world looks like. Don't mean it's realistic in a real sense, but it does look physically real in a claymation model world sense.
here's the thing, that game looks cool, there's no doubt about that.
Killer App
OMG I NEED A PS3
My 360 is garbage next to this!
These aren't things you'll be hearing from me. Yes, it looks cute, yes it looks fun, but it also looks like it'd get old quick. I also have to wonder about pricing - they could price this game right out of my interest if they're not careful.
I will say that home looks quite interesting... as long as they don't follow in MS's footsteps w/ velocity girl and never deliver on all of the functionality they're promising
Awesome, that rendering is prety tight. Exactly where the "2d" platformer should be going.
must.have.this.game
Yikes, a 2.5D platformer on a next-gen Sony console? That's unexpected.
this represents everything the PS3 hasn't been thus far, and innovation like this will make it the long-term investment that it's promised to be.
i don't see anything that can't be done by other consoles as well (except maybe the graphics for the wii) but still, looking at that video i couldn't tell that it was for a Sony box given the direction that it's had until today. i stand by the PS3 as being a future console, but it's just not here yet.
Yeah, I didn't realize how perfect Go! Team is for video games until just now.
WOW they did it, they really did it. I now officially NEED a PS3!
That game looked delicious!
With this and HOME announced today it's like Sony just pulled a complete 180! Still prefer my 360 and Wii but at least now I feel I NEED a PS3 sat along side them.
Wow. Holy shit. Awesome. All of these words have been said before, and fucked if I'm not gonna say them again. That looks incredible.
" Lightguy says:
I love how the little astronaut-like one keeps getting left behind."
I enjoyed that too. I kept saying to myself "GO LITTLE ROCKET MAN GO!"
Put me in with the "Completly Amazed" Crowd
This is the first PS3 game I'm genuinely interested in.
I will now go out and buy a PS3.
I will put it on my credit card, and pay 0% interest for 6 months.
I will then get a balance transfer from another credit card at the end of that 6 month period.
themunk, seconded!
Hopefully we'll see more like it.
The interaction between the 4 players is especially interesting, and, dare I say it, compelling? This is the first time I think I've been excited and jealous for a PS3 game, and it's a palpable excitement that similar to, but not on par with, the excitement when I see Mass Effect and think about how close it is to release. This may not be the critical killer app that Sony needs after so much bad PR, but it sent me from well into negative interest territory to positive in about 2 minutes of footage. No wonder it looks so good, and has such interesting physics; apparently it's made by the team who created RagDoll Kung-Fu. More importantly, the implementation of user created "plots" into a youtube-esque searchable and filter-able database is bordering on brilliant. Yes, it's an idea appropriated from youtube, and from Miis, and from PC FPSs that have allowed user generated content for ages, but if Gears of War taught us anything, it's that clever recombination and refinement of previous concepts can equal an amazing experience. It's not worth 600 dollars, but again, fuck if it doesn't excite me.

Oh my GOD!
The music in this vid reminds me of the days that video games were something you wanted to play on Sunday morning, rather than some rainy Tuesday night. Looks really great - innovative enough to be engaging and exciting yet familiar enough to be welcoming. From Sony eh? Who woulda' thunk it?
My first moment ever where I feel happy I own a PS3 now. I have been feeling that with my 360 for the past 6 months though =P.
The Go! Team. They have Go! team music. That's awesome.
Finally someone over there knows what they're doing.
Wow that looks interesting cant wait for this game to hit and hope its as fun to play as it is to watch.
Wow. Just Wow.
I'm not a Sony guy, but this little LocoRocoish little game is a bless for this gaming world.
I seems to be so smooth, so simple, so easy, so enjoyable and... DAMN,IS A PLATFORMER.
An all the 2D/3D aspects that blend together so well. Is simply brilliant.
As I see it this is going to be better than Nintendo's weird experiment called Super Paper Mario, which it seems will combine Platforming+RPG+3D.
Sounds like a killer-app for me? Sure. Just release it with good timing, and maybe, just maybe, all this so called hardcore and bloodthirsty guys that think they are better just because they play games with guns would try and like this pretty good looking an seems to be fun game.
I was wondering what the music was..Really, the Go! Team?
Echoing "amazing". Next-Gen needs more pretty 2.5D platformers.
Man that really rocks, REALLY rocks!
@Laz81:
Lollerskates. You are a paid commenter?
i love the Go! Team!! this looks great by the way
It looks fun, but kinda pointless. I like it because it's kind of cute and looks like something I can waste time on with friends.
Sure it looks great and amazing, maybe someday I'll even get to play it. Still not worth 599 US dollars though (plus tax and accessories).
I'm unimpressed. Kinda like most of what you find thrown up on the net. I'm all for user-content, I just don't have the patience these days.
And how come I don't get to use my HoMii?
This kind of reminds me of an independent game that made you add links, springs, ropes, etc... to get a ball in a goal. yes, that's a horrible description but it was linked here for winning an award. :)
The prospect of designing your own levels with that kind of interaction is really exciting. I just hope Sony delivers with their promises.
Wow! Talk about PS envy!
I'm quite excited about this game, it looks like a lot of fun, and from the look of the characters their customizable? I hope so .. they are definitely cute !!
Hey, it looks like Toy Story!
Looks like the sort of thing that will have you pawing at your screen and wondering how the graphics look so convincing. Love to get this in hi-def - it really seems to transcend my expectation of game graphics up to now. Mind ou it seems locked to a 2D view - maybe that's a good thing...
Writing as a 360 owner, the next XBLA title is going to be hard to take seriously when this looks so fine and allows you to define your own game.
I would like to see more of the setup and how you design stuff, but so far this seems astounding.
I still can't afford a PS3 though.
@Omikaru: are you kidding me? what kind of social change did you expect to exert on the world via game console?
Looks great! I love the trophies, they looked as big as the character! Nothing could be more fun than showing off a two story trophy of a giant dragon that you got for Lair.
I feel bad about constantly hating on the PS3, but seriously this game will be good if your playing with friends, if you get a dumbass in the game with you, have fun...
Not only that but sandbox games are limited. Sure you can have endless amounts of thigns to do, but only with the same things.
And not only that, but seriously Sony, wheres your big games? playing a bunch of small downloads is great and all but at some point, somewhere on the horizon, is there anything actualyl worth paying $60 for?
Very nice. I wonder how much time went into LBP. It looks so damn good, so good that it put's XBL games to shame.
If Super Smash Bros. was a co-op game...
This looks wonderful
@Ixero: maybe XBLA, but even they have a couple gems.
You don't need to "kill" in a game for it to be fun. Ever play N? It could be like that, except it won't have the frustration of having to start the level all the way over because a silly mistake. Not everyone enjoys frustration, and not every game should be made for the hardcore only.
I'm down for this.
"Next-Gen needs more pretty 2.5D platformers."
totally agreed.. plus i've been waiting for an excellent co-op platformer for EVER.
i love all the little toys there are in this example.. like the rocks you knock over and job across, the rocketpacks, and the shell they had to lift... those floating stars..
i especially liked that one part that the one guy was having trouble with... the star that gets pushed by the moving block, which launches the star upwards..
really cool.
i CANNOT wait for this game! today is a good day for gamers everwhere!
