Capcom has finally unveiled the contents of the Premium Super Awesome Limited Collector's Edition of Devil May Cry 4 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and while it not be a collector's case with replicas of Dante's pistols in it, it's still not a bad little deal. Both versions will be packaged in 'Steelbook' cases, along with a bonus DVD that contains a making of featurette, music from the soundtrack, a digital art book, wallpapers, icons, and screen savers. Also included with the Collector's Edition is the first disc of ADV's Devil May Cry: The Animated Series, containing four episodes of the brand new anime. It looks to be packaged in one of those little cardboard disc sleeves that anime fans despise, so expect printable fan-made DVD case inserts to be available by the time the game is released. I'm probably going to pass on this one myself, as $79.99 makes that anime DVD more of an additional purchase than a bonus.

I bet the japenese version of the game will get the rpelica pistols.
Too bad $80 is way too much to spend on a game. Though it is extremely tempting.
P.S. The cover art is sweet ass sweet.
Why not add all 12 episodes? :(
EDIT: that would be japanese
I wish they'd do more cases like the Lost Planet CE where the console, publisher and other logos are all on a clear plastic sleeve that can be removed. It's definitely one of the best looking packages in my collection and it's a shame Capcom aren't doing the same for DMC4.
The bonus disc is tempting, but the anime was a big disappointment and I'm not paying extra for it.
cant wait for the game and although id love to have the CE 80$ seems a bit steep for the stuff they included.
The PS3 version looks so much cooler, the case I mean, Why does microsoft have this nasty habit of slapping that big ugly Xbox 360 tag at the top of everyone of their games. Granted they have to let you know what console the game is for, but does it have to be so big?
Geez...only 4 episode on 1dvd. How about all 12 on a blueray for the ps3 then we'll consider it a good deal. I'll just get the game...
Why does the Xbox version say ONLY ON XBOX at the top?
After this period of an insane amount of good game releases and my wallet being totally out of cash for now, I am limiting my game purchases for the next months to 1 a month...This is defintely going to be my Feb purchase (unless miracles do happen and MGS4 and FF13 are released in Feb, in wich case Devil may cry 4 can wait another 3 months or so...)
I live in a small apartment, so all my games are in a Case Logic case anyway. I thought the God of War info was cool and all, but I don't know that I'd buy a special edition of the game just for that.
I'm more interested in which version will be better. I'm still leaning towards the 360 version, with its achievments and control with rumble. Will there be online play? If so, then its all Xbox for me. Well... I dunno, I guess that wouldn't matter.
If the PS3 version winds up looking much better and supporting DualShock3 rumble, then I might hold off entirely until DS3 is available.
I won't play this game without rumble, though.
@Nascar:
Where does it say "Only on XBOX"? All I see are the XBOX 360 and the Live logo up top.
@Vehks: PS3 games will stil have the transparent white-ish Blue Ray section on the top.
I really need to save money for a 360 or ps3...
@sander_dutch:
True but atleast it's small.
Does the PS3 version have a bonus dvd? The package doesn't look big enough for two discs...
I am getting this on the PS3 that it is where it belongs .
Bah! $80 is nothing for a SE version of a game. In the UK we easily pay 40 GBP for a standard game, that's $80 right there.
@pyrealnova: The Xbox package on the far left shows ONLY ON XBOX.
Between the Xbox 360 text and the Live text is the ONLY ON XBOX text.
will be getting!
I like the PS3 case more, they went with a neutral color that pretty much works with everything.
Unlike green and white.
capcom u bastards!!! all 12 episodes, man what the hell is all the blu-ray for? im really on the fence for getting the LE. i might just get the game. o wow 30 dollar value,gimme a break gimme all the episodes and then you can call it a value!!! capcom is really effin up lately, first no monster hunter 3 on ps3, then we lose DMC exclusivity, then the not so great looking lost planet,until then, step your game up! mark my words... if this game looks like shit on the ps3 u can keep it on the shelf! (ok im done whining :)
@Tehfluffzcomeback
It's a game, not an item of home bloody furnishing! Pull yerself together, man!
Done and done. If only for the sweet ass soundtrack...I LOVE the music they use in the newest trailer. Now the question is: which system should I buy it for? I want to support Sony and all, but Microsoft has turned me into an achievement whore. =( If the PS3 has award trophies by then, I suppose I'll go with the PS3 version.
This seems like a pretty standard "special edition".
What's this about a "Digital" artbook? What happened to hardcopies? Sure it's cheaper but do I really want something that's gonna be on the net 2 hours after I buy the game?
I'm also a bit bummed about the "anime". I saw a few episodes and I didn't like it (What's up with that loli character?).
Had they filled the blu-ray version with all of the episodes in HD, I might have considered buying it and maybe even a ps3 with it.
@Astrofox:
I would guess the PS3 version would only need one disk for all the content. Not sure though.
i see the game is running at 60 fps, but is that 360 only, it only shows the case for xbox....
It doesn't help that the anime was a bit crap really... I'll just stick to the regular version thank you very much.
@Laxe: the UK versions of games are additionally taxed for all the extra u's they need to add into words like colour, and for changing all the "ass" into "arse". :) Still, if you're paying 40p for a standard edition, this special ed. must run at least 60p
Hmm, I just got the special ed connection.
I wouldn't bother. I watched the anime when it came out. It's pretty bad. :/
The reason they're only including 4 episodes is because they want you to actually buy the set. Yes I know, that was obvious. Still, of course I'd like it if all eps were included, even as a free DLC.
@Nascar: Because someone failed at photoshop? Nah, I don't know.
A big "no" on the collector's edition, though. Nothing in that pack is worth $20. Maybe if it included all the originals on one disc... Except with BC gone that can't happen. Oh well, pass!
I will admit the anime started out kinda bad but towards the middle through the end it actually turned out to be good especially the lady and trish action. I will get this game for the ps3 but I never been able to beat any of the games. They are mad hard but fun I guess I like punishment and a good challenge.
Someone needs to port the Windows PS2 emulator to the 360. PS1 too while they're at it.
That would really make the point about lack of BC on the PS3.
I read "replicas of Dante's pistols" and nearly had a damn heart attack.
there was an image on neogaf of "replicas" of ebony and ivory. the thing is, they looked like real pistols. just amazing imo. don't think i'd spring for the collectors edition unless they included something to considerable to make it worthwhile.
@kNZA:
Why don't you just pick up a used PS2 for $60...oh yeah, you want to rip off the manufacturers by playing stolen games...my mistake.
Yep, will get! ^_^
I'm a collector's edition sucker anyway (and I mean that in a negative way, I wish I wasn't...)
DO WANT.
@Infradead: Yeah, same here. That was just cruel. Interesting coincedence! I was (and still am) listening to the DMC3 soundtrack when I saw this post.
@Nascar: Duh?!! Probably because it's only on Xbox duche-bag!!!
OMG... I'm just kidding. My excuse? I was playing Halo 3 on live and it kinda rubbed off.
Seriously though, I wonder if this is one of those product shots like the "hard drive required" symbol? If that's the case then it's probably just stock Xbox graphics and probably wont be on the final version. Then again, if it is, then you might want to watch closely as MS spins the issue so fast it'll generate a reverse-spin illusion that'll have a push-line at the expense of the PS3.
Soundtrack! I lvoe the DMC soundtracks and if this includes one it is a must buy for me. 360 of course.
Now I just have to decide if I should get the CE of DMC4 for the 360 or PS3. At least I have months to make up my mind.
I'm gettin this on PS3.
I played the first 3 on ps2, I'm playing the fourth on PS3.
To all who are not sure what system they want to get this on. I'm just going to throw some words out their to get the memory flowing:
1) Capcom
2) Lost Planet
3) Unreal Engine 3
4) PS3
5) Wait
6) Online
7) Read Ring
8) Match Making
9) DLC
10) Lost Planet
Hopefully that helped but if it didn't and you just need someone to tell you... you can't go wrong with the 360 or Wii version (tee hee). For the record, I am NOT a fanboy and before you run off to read my comment history, I just want to say I think it's wrong to judge based on history (disregard the hypocracy).
Thats a nice CE! I'm for sure getting it, but it should be $69. I could really care less about the damn anime.
Wow, I'm sold!
So sue me.
That anime is crap. Very slow-paced, not very satisfying either. Dante doesn't hit Devil Trigger at any point, for instance, and at the end he wins while talking about the strength of the human spirit, or whathaveya.
I reserved it, but I might change my mind, simply because the rewards are stuff that'll be available on torrents later. Especially the soundtrack - putting selections from it on a DVD is not nearly as enticing as including a soundtrack CD, and that could be enough to make me not want to pay the extra twenty dollars.
I hate collector's editions! As I have to buy them if they include a "Making of" disc.
will be great on both.. but i just can't see playing a fast action game with the bubble a,b,x,y buttons on 360.. played first 3 on PS3 so will play this on PS3 (already imported DS3) so rumble there
this is a great deal!! im totally buying it!!! i cant wait for dmc 4 it will be so sweet!!! the only thing that makes me sad is that i hope they make more than 12 episodes, cuz i watched all in japanese with subtitles and it was great!! but i dont want it to end at 12 episodes!!! i want more dmc anime!!
wait so it won't have the replica pistols for the collector's edition??? hmmmmmmm :|
