Spike TV s annual video game awards show is just around the corner. I have mixed feelings about the fact that we are one of three websites nominated in the category of Best Gaming Blog. (Cross-net rivals Joystiq and the always illustrious Slashdot Games are the other two.) I wonder if the fact that I referred to last year s show as "the worst video game award show in the history of everything" will have any effect on my chances of winning?

The nominees for best gaming website are 1Up, Gamespot and IGN, while the nominees for best gaming pub are Game Informer, Official Xbox Magazine and EGM.

The show will be aired on Nov. 18 at the Gibson Amphitheater in L.A. with the show premiering on Spike TV on Dec. 10. Samuel L. Jackson, winner of last year s show for his work on GTA: San Andreas, will host the show. Sweet. The sponsors include AOL, Burger King Corporation and Circuit City.
