    Opoona Revealed For Wii

Koei have just announced they're working on Opoona, an adventure game for the Wii. It's big draws? A reasonably all-star dev team, and the fact it doesn't use the Wii Remote. At all. And not the Classic Controller, either.

You play the titular Opoona, and while travelling with your family, your brother and sister go missing and the rest get all busted up, winding up in hospital. I'm guessing this happens in mysterious circumstances, since the game is essentially about you trying to figure out what happened and, I presume, get to the bottom of it.

Former Dragon Quest art designer Shintaro Majima is heading up...art design, Sachiko Yukimura, who's also worked on Dragon Quest, is "planning director" and Hitoshi Sakimoto is on music duties, which should keep Final Fantasy fans happy.

But what's got me interested (apart from the cute art style) are the controls. According to Koei, you play the entire game one-handed, using only the nunchuk. Movement, menus, combat, the works. Don't know how effective it'll be, but it shows promise, if only because it sounds blissfully lazy.

Nice to see more developers realising the Wii looks its best using cartoony/simple textures and models.
