Damn these game delays! It's always the one you're most interested in, isn't it? They never would have delayed Ninjabread Man, yet here we are with another big title pushed back to Spring 2008. While development on the JT Bar Trial is expected to wrap today, final verdict producer Judge Dava Tunis has indicated that testing and review of the extensive court record will most likely keep the results out of gamers' hands until Q1 2008. With games like Spore slated for the same release window, one has to wonder if the title will garner any notice at all when it finally hits. The verdict continues to garner harsh opposition from Florida lawyer Jackie T, who has filed multiple motions to have the game canceled altogether, though so far his track record of never hindering a game's release is intact. I guess we'll just have to find something else to play over the Christmas holiday. *sniffs*

Nice Fahey...
That it! My holiday is ruined! I hope your happy Dava Tunis, Little timmy will never walk again! :(
MEANWHILE, Thompson, deep in his underground lair, frantically works to connect the Omaha mall shootings to a culture flooded with first person shooters.
I love satire...
It should most cetainly have been an M rating. No minors should be allowed to witness such horrors.
Damn, I hope there is a Wii version with a Judge minigame where I can use the Wii-mote as a gavel. If there isn't I'm going to have to pass on this one.
I love you, Fahey.
I hear Rockstar is moving up GTA IV's release date to coincide with this delay.
Hopefully the delay means they'll be adding an execution feature. Imagine the irony, JT being killed after a lifetime of enjoying being alive...
ROFLMAO!
I applaud this article. Well done.
You just killed my early Xmas present. That's it screw Xmas iam just going to convert to nihilism. This is only going to give JT more time to find some legal loophole and squirm his way out once again like the worn he is. 2008 was going to be diffrent but no!! why can't they just take a day where they ask him to go court and just say guilty and get this over with?
Awesome post ;)
lame, this 'delay' is due to that judge buggering off on holiday or something. seriously get a move on and hang him
Kudos Fahey. The game cover was an especially nice touch.
Another 360 exclusive! Score!
dude is this only for 360? damnit another ps3 title lost
HAHAHA...Good one.
It's moment like this that really make me regret saying :
"Pfff anyone can do this 'game journalist' crap."
Funny writers you.
Of course, the PS3 version will come two months later, and you won't be able to buy a seperate gavel peripherals for co-op.
Question:
Will this have DLC? Maybe an expansion?
One of the tags should have been "No fate but what you make"
>:)
@Pezdispenser: LOL! That was just awesome!
Lawyer's Fate? Was Kotaku pressure to give this game 5 stars as well?
I tried a demo of this game, it glitches a lot. I've numerous times to make JT jump off buildings, run into oncoming traffic, throw himself into dangerous machinery, or actually turn him into a decent human being.
With that said, the screen locks up, and I hear this lecture on violent gaming, and how suing everything in sight makes JT feel more like a man. Also he reveals himself to be an alien, and then everything crashes.
Don't buy this!
Fahey, you are my favorite person on the planet.
@Tyber_Zann: After this review Tyber_Zann was fired and the skin of Laywer Fate's were put off Kotuka site the very next morning.
Oh, and I keep reading that judge's name as Tuna Davis.
God damnit I swear I'm dyslexic.
Hope they keep Detective Gumshoe as a character....
It's moments like this that make me love Kotaku!
That's one 360 exclusive that I hope remains that way.
@ChickenOfTheSea: It will also come with a glitch where right before the gavel comes down, the game freezes and the gavel is stuck mid-air.
Fahey, I'm sure I've said it before, but you are my hero. Awesome post.
@Throtex: Nice catch, lol.
@tehFluffzComeback:
Agreed! I don't think a PS3 or Wii port would be worth anyone's time. It'd just get pulled from shelves anyway.
Damn I was going to play that all through the holidays.
...The Lawyer who stole Chrismas
I was hoping this would come out for the PS3, but it looks like another 360 exclusive *cries*. It would probably run choppy on the PS3 anyways. Looks like a second Chrsitmas for 360 owners in early 08 ;)
These delays suck. They had better inclue the Afterjob expansion pack with the fry cook mode.
I have to applaud the commenters in this post...so many good ones...
Kudos to: Charlie Kerfelds Jetsons Tee, Throtex, Hauler, Swirldude....good job gentlepersons.
For a second there, I was thinking, how did this title escape my attention and yet now it's delayed...
can't wait for Gamespots review.
@Tyber_Zann: Man, I kept reading it as Tuna Davis as well! I knew it couldnt be right though...sounded too fishy lolpun
QUICK! Somebody make more JT/Pheonix Wright comparisons, before it's too late!
@InsomniaBob:
OBJECTION!
*Slam*
*Shakes Head*
The comparisons should come naturally, and not be forced!
Lawyer's Fate for PS3, confirmed!
surfer girl says so
@Pezdispenser:
Sustained.
Mr. Bob, do you or do you not have evidence linking Mr. Thompson to a vast conspiracy fabricated by the hobgoblins of his own mind to defraud and mislead the public regarding video games and the people who play them?
*Select the evidence to present*
Wonder how you'd play it on Live though.
Dang it, I wanted lawyer's fate to be a Wii game, so I can punch him with both hands.
@Yoko_Yasha: thats the reason for the delay. you know how hard it is to write for the ps3. and the framerates will probably suck.
Lawyer's Fate theme is up on Live, 800 MS points and a 50/50 chance it'll either brick your console, or replace the power-on 360 logo splash with a recording of JT warning you that you're using a murder-simulation machine.
Played the demo it was meh. I have reason to believe the endboss may be sweet though.
@Hauler:
Oh man, I'd actually buy a Wii for that game.
@wisconsinista:
any guesses on what the end boss might be? And how did you guys find the weapons system? I thought the rhetoric rifle was quite powerful against the masses but the best defense armor was the mantle of misinformation.
Jackie?
You put the balm on? Who told you to put the balm on? I didn't tell you to put the balm on. Why'd you put the balm on? You haven't even been to see the doctor. If your gonna put a balm on, let a doctor put a balm on.
Any word on a collector's edition? I hope it's like Bioshock and comes with a little JT figure that yells "Objection" or something.
