The Assassin's Creed Collector's Edition Figure: Now In Full Color

A few weeks back, our good friend Cheapy D revealed that the Assassin's Creed Collector's Edition would include a nice little collectible Altair figure. Unfortunately, all we had at the time was a simple black and white photo. But thankfully, German website cynamite.de has gotten a nice color photo of the whole set for us to check out, although truthfully, his outfit is mostly white anyway. I love that these collector's editions are getting more and more elaborate. Pretty soon they'll just come with a little game dev inside to help you through the game.

[Thanks, Phil]

  • Is it me or is this statue's quality not as good as the Bioshock one? :(

  • Does look pretty poor

  • The game that I do want to redo - but I think I would find it very difficult to take it totally to next-gen - is Last Ninja. Without a doubt that would be the one title I would choose out of all of them, Why? Because it was the biggest game we ever created. We were planning Last Ninja 4 for PS2 and X-Box but we scrapped it because it simply wasn't good enough. Is Last Ninja coming to the NDS and Wii? Yes it is. But It's a remake of Last Ninja 1,2 and 3.

  • I don't care too much for the figure - I'll probably go for the standard edition on this one.

    Question though - the picture shows what looks like the standard edition boxart. Did they change the special edition boxart or does it still come with the plain one shown a few weeks/months ago?

  • Elaborate limited edition sets are key, it seems. Although for some strange reason, the medium that most likely should have the most elaborate limited editions-RPGs-don't actually have all that much, if any at all. Persona 3 only had an artbook and the OST. The most elaborate so far was Growlanser, upping Persona 3 with keychains, buttons, and weird flash cards. No statues, no nothing. We had to buy those separately in anime shops. XD

  • That pose kinda makes the guy look um...gay.

  • Figures and statues etc. never look any good to me, including my mates Big Daddy one. I'd much rather have a quality art book or OST or something else.

  • Hmm I would get it but I just spent 130 on the halo 3 legendary edition.

    If it weren't for the fact that my room is already overcrowded with books, games, movies, and stuffed animals (shut up) to the point where I just have stacks of books on the floor I would be all about getting that figure. It isn't very detailed, but it's pretty cool nonetheless.

  • These companies need to get this into their head- Collector's Edition= TIN CASE. Not some cheap action figure. I want cheap tin.

  • @ Mr. Sadistic: I know you didn't actually just say that...

  • It's only good if it scratches the disc.

  • I expected the figure to look more gritty and detailed like the character in the video game.

    Instead, we get this "Hasbro" version that makes it feel cheap and not worthy of "collector's edition."

  • What all is in the collector's edition other than the statue and the comic, or is that all? Also, is this another Gamestop exclusive like Bioshock, or could I actually get this at a decent store?

  • Im sure the figure is nice. Dr. Chocobo, hasbro's figures are GOOD. They just cut corners on the paintjob which makes them look awful.

    Im sure a decent paint job would make this statue pop like crazy. Go email my buddy Jin.

  • @QC8472:

    Yeah, Altair looks a little janky, and a little bit too pastel colored for a Crusade-era Assasin. I was hoping for a little more grit, and a little more detail. My Big Daddy sorta sets the bar in the SE collectible department.

    Don't know how CheapyD blew the lid off this one a few weeks back. I knew about the figurine months ago when I first plopped down my duckets for the game.

  • @Mr. Sadistic: What would possess you to make an ignorant statement like that? I don't have a 360, but I think the whole package looks pretty cool.

  • These collector's edition things are getting out of hand. Whereas I do believe blind fans who buy everything should be punished as much as possible through their wallets (for their stupidity), do we really need to churn out all these dolls? Since who likes action men anyway?

    Just give them a soundtrack CD, some artwork and a tin case. They'll still happily fork out lots of cash for it.

  • @Mr. Sadistic: Dude, way to be an asshole. I hope you feel good about yourself after that, really.

    What I want to know is whether the Collector's Edition comes in those idiotic metal cases that let the discs rattle around and scratch each other.

  • Image of Anemone Anemone at 04:09 PM on 10/06/07 *

    @Mr. Sadistic: Way to pick possibly the worst post to say that in. You may as well say "first", "not news", and "jap" while you're at it.

  • The figure looks decent enough! You guys are too picky. It's only $10 more, so if you can't take the fact that the figure isn't up to you ridiculously high standards, you should just buy the basic $60 one.

    I only hope that that AWESOME blade finger isn't chipped off when I buy mine!

  • Damn, that figure looks very MEH. :(

  • @homernoy: @Stormrider900: @Anemone:
    guys , gay is not a bad word...i dont see the big deal, unless you see gay as a insult

  • Image of coalhalo coalhalo at 04:29 PM on 10/06/07 *

    @Mr. Sadistic:
    Please go somewhere else if you are going to be making comments like that. Kotaku is making an effort to have some civility in it's comment section.

    @Flynn De Marco:
    Another week and another comment like that, just like the commenter who knocked your site in your Japanese Cos-Play piece. It never seems to end.

  • @sinny: Dude, don't try to defend Sadistic on this one. We all know what he meant. You're only going to get some of his stink on yourself.

  • @
    The Banhammer Cometh

  • I'm a little tight for cash, but it sure is enticing.

    A great man by the name of Ron Simmons a.k.a Farooq once said: DAMN!

  • Thank you. Calling something gay is not in itself an insult, unless you perceive it to be a derogatory comment. Perhaps it would please the PC crowd if he had said, "the pose that figure is holding looks particularly effeminate, which, on a male character, makes him appear to be a homosexual."

    Now, can we get back to the subject of how recent times have seen an increase of gaming related goodies that are released outside of Japan, and how this is a good thing?

  • Had this preordered a year ago at Play Asia but will probably cancel now. This figure looks weak.

  • @sinny:Neither is bitch by definition. I don't want to drag it out and ruin this thread, but it's not the word itself, it's in the context you use it. In this case it was most definitely negative, with the potential to be hurtful. Let's try to be cooler. ;)

  • @Wraithen: @sinny & other Homophobic Apologists:

    Imagine, in the classical sense, an authority figure you respect. Parent, Teacher, First-Response Professional, what-have-you. Said authority figure has had an exhausting day being an authority figure, opens the front door to their home, takes off their coat, and shouts to their spouse,

    "honey, you wouldn't believe how gay work was today!"

    Does this person still qualify as an authority figure?

    Setting aside the blatant indefensible homophobia for a moment, you sound juvenile and ignorant when you call something you disapprove of gay. If I am expected to believe that this wasn't meant as the perjorative 7th grade slight it was so obviously intended and the scholarly poster above was eluding to the action figure's sexual orientation, he's still a bonehead who couldn't spot a gay guy in the castro with a "free cosmos!" sandwich board. it's hard to call a guy out as homo when you can't see his fucking FACE.
    I can't believe some of you people are crying PC discrimination entitlement to the guy who gets daily hate-mail for having the audacity to be gay, play video-games, and draw some conclusions between the two and write about it on the internet.

    The figure looks pretty meh, and I have a strict policy about buying collectibles for IP I haven't experienced yet.

  • @StratfordX:

    Calling something "gay" is far easier than being articulate and expressing yourself in a manner unlike that of a sub-18 year old. :D

    Anyway, I like the statue. Chances are, due to the lack of McFarlane-esque detail, it'll probably decrease the price of the Collector's Edition. Hopefully it's only an extra 10-20 dollars. Any more would be totally gay. >_>

  • There is a PS3 version of this Collectors Edition too right?

    -WPack911

  • Image of Anemone Anemone at 05:25 PM on 10/06/07 *

    @WPack911: Yes, assuming limited edition is the same "limted edition" that is listed on various game selling websites. The price appears to be $69us, so it's only $10 more than the normal game.

  • @StratfordX:
    you calling me homophobic apologist is an insult, and for me a serious one, and that i dont like one bit...

    im not defending what mr.sadistics said... i did say that it was not a big deal unless you have a problem with the word gay...but i think is about how much relation you have with gay people...i have a lot so for me making jokes with and about gay people is common , and they make jokes with my sexuality too, so stop making a fuzz about everything...

    so please stop this here

  • Image of coalhalo coalhalo at 05:28 PM on 10/06/07 *

    @StratfordX:
    Well said.

  • @Anemone: and the PC version? any info?

  • @WPack911: Yes, but the crafting of the figure won't be nearly as nice as the ones 360 owners get. The colors will be off, it will have rough edges, and probably be smaller and not even stand up straight, since it won't come with the little stand on the bottom that the 360's does.

  • @StratfordX: Lawl, way to just generalize people you don't even know. His comment was definately in bad taste, but whats worse is you PC fucks truning mountains into mole hills. And read carefully, I'm not condoning his comment, but this lynching of every dumb comment on this site needs to quit. And it needs to start with you PC Gestapo types first. I didn't like his comment eihter, but you know what, I scrolled down. Fucking drama queens

    P.S. People need to stop using the word homophobic. I've met people who have a problem with or don't like homosexuals, but I've yet to meet a person "afraid" of someone who is homosexual.

  • @I_Hate_This_Place: "Truning"= turning

  • @I_Hate_This_Place: PC fucks?

  • I want me one of those, problem is the only place selling the Limited Edition in the UK is play.com (see here [www.play.com]) and that make no mention of a nice figure, only a shiny metal case and some postcards.

  • Too bad it's only 3 inches tall

  • @StratfordX: I hate to drag this debate out any more than necessary... well it's too late for that... but I would like to say that if said authority figure had spent the day having homosexual sex or extensive conversations on the subject, came home and said his day was gay I would find that acceptable. If his day was just crap, it would not be acceptable.
    Maybe I'm just a little too naive on all the 'isms and 'phobias that are supposed to have such an influence on the way we think and speak, and I'm sorry if my ignorance has offended any gay people. But it's only those who have reason to be offended I'm going to apologise to.

    As for the box set, I hope it comes out in the UK, my video game figure collection is growing quite nicely, and I think it'd make a cool addition. More than that, though, the game looks great.

  • Image of Anemone Anemone at 06:03 PM on 10/06/07 *

    @sinny: Well, after looking, I've noticed that the PC version is delayed until early 2008, if that changes you mind at all. As a result of the hazy 2008 release date it's hard to find a place that says they are selling the PC version in LE or normal. Only Play.com had it... as per Lesley Smith's post it makes no mention of a figurine. On the site it says you can buy a 26 cm figurine... for £24.99. Aparently there is DS version planned for 2008 as well. I'm doubting there will be an LE for it.

  • Collector's Editions are not getting more and more elaborate, if anything they're getting worse. What few "elaborate" ones (i.e. ludicrously expensive) there are, usually are way too expensive for what they give you. The Halo 3 Legendary edition is possibly the worst special edition set ever made. The GTAIV set is really lame too.

    I wish more publishers did special editions like Blizzard. I might actually buy them then.

  • I was thinking of getting the PC version before I heard of the delay, but once I heard that the PC version would be delayed, I was unsure which to get as I wanted the Limited Edition figure that came with, and I wasn't sure if the PC version would have a limited edition. But seeing a plastic figure like this one rather than the totality awesome resin figure of bioshock decided it for me. I'll get the PC LE if they make it, but if they don't, I don't feel like I'll have missed anything.

    @Eieio: Haha, nice metaphor.

    Anyways, people really need to stop using the word homophobic
    lets pull out latin here people
    Homo = same, as in homosexual (being sexualy attracted to those of the same gender)
    phobic = fear of
    thus: homophobic = fear of those of the same gender.
    And under that definition, I'm homophobic. Dudes totally scare me shitless.

    @I_Hate_This_Place: "PC fucks"? You know how ironic it is that you almost certainly had to use a PC to type that up, right? Unless you're crazy and used a Wii or PS3 to do so, in which case you may need psychological help for not living in the real world.

  • @skullivan:
    I strongly disagree. The BioShock one came with a Resin figure, a making of dvd, and some unique remixes. When looking at and comparing to the cost of Japanese resin and cold cast figures (often in the triple digits), the extras alone made it worth well over 60 dollars to me.

  • Image of Anemone Anemone at 06:37 PM on 10/06/07 *

    @skullivan: Are you kidding? GTAVIs special edition is possibly the only thing that's making me consider buying yet another GTA. Halo's was terrible, most everyone agrees with that, at least it was horrible for the price. As for Bliz... they need to release D3 and it need to be *FREE* to play to get back into my good graces. Then again Bliz is doing just well enough with me avoiding their crap by milking WoW, so I don't think they ever cared in the first place. At least a SC2 was a step in the right direction, but honestly the best we can hope for is SC with better graphics from it. I'm not saying that in a negative fashion either. SC is still the best game of its sort due to the perfect balance and play experience. They could easily ruin it by getting too far from the established formula.

  • this picture makes that statue the style of clone wars. ill still get it then post some pictures
