So Manhunt 2 is in a state of, oh, uncertainty. Nobody knows exactly what's going to happen. Nobody except MIchael Pachter. Speaking with Gamedaily.biz, he thinks all is not lost for the title, with a refit and a later release salvaging the situation.
They will probably spend $1 million or so to rework the game. They will not have revenue from the game this quarter (ending July), so they will likely miss their guidance, but will make up most of it in a future quarter when the game is released."The overall financial impact is not that serious, provided sales don't suffer. It is hard to know whether the publicity helps or hurts, but my guess is that it hurts.
The first part? About a reworking? Probably right on the money. The second, though, about it hurting sales? No dice. It's hurt the game's image amongst people who tut and frown at the thought of violent videogames. Amongst those who would consider purchasing Manhunt 2, though, it's probably done wonders.
