GTA IV's Liberty City bears more than a passing resemblance to New York. From statues to certain automotive-themed tall buildings to a large, neon-lit public square, it's skating as close to the real thing as Rockstar's lawyers have said it can skate. Oh, except for the boroughs. New York has five, Liberty City is only going to have four, with Staten Isle missing out. And Senator Andrew Lanza (who was born there and is currently the Senate representative for the south of Staten Island), from a report over on Game Politics, is beside himself with glee:
"I'm glad Staten Island is left out, frankly," Mr. Lanza said. Describing the game as "poisonous," he reflected on the real reason his borough did not make the cut."Perhaps it's because they know Staten Island is the safest place in the entire city," he said.
Do you want to tell him that's because, perhaps, it'll be the first piece of downloadable content for the game? Or should I? One of us really should. It's wrong to get his hopes up like that.
