LotRO Gets Cheaper For The Holidays

gollumholiday.jpgWith Blizzard adding a cold pack to their Burning Crusade and NCsoft giving Guild Wars players five hours of marketing, what does Lord of the Rings Online have to offer MMO players this Holiday season? Low, low prices! From now until January 31st, new and existing subscribers to LotRO can pay only $9.99 month, $5 off their normal $14.99 rate. You'll have to pay $29.97 for three months at a time in order to take advantage of the special offer, but 33% off is nothing to scoff at. Of course had you known you'd be so addicted you would have just dropped $200 at launch for the lifetime subscription. Hindsight, huh?

  • No thanks.

  • It was a good game but when it comes to MMOs once I hit like level 35 0r 40 i just lose intrest.

  • *ignore my spelling error

  • This was/is a pretty fun mmorpg, and its easy to get wrapped up in the cool tolkein mythos, just a little to bland for my tastes. Easier then FFXI, harder then WOW, it fills a nice intemediary niche between the ends of the difficulty spectrum.

  • The Tolkien mythos was all that kept me going and only until level 22. Then I realized it was just WoW methadone.

  • The game is fantastic, addictive, and engrossing. I missed out on the $200 lifetime subscription for those who preordered the game because I waited for the reviews. The new price point for the subscription is telling of how desperate the developers are for a larger user base, but the community of people already adventuring in Middle Earth is a great one. The monthly bill was worth it to me while I could afford it (currently out of work).

  • Meh, played the Beta, pretty much WoW on a smaller scale with LotR plastered all over. I think i'll pass. It could have been a lot better.

  • I have a friend who preordered it, and got the lifetime subscription... I think he played it for about a week or two. Allow me to take the opportunity to laugh at him.

  • Still playing it. (lifetime subscription) Its without a doubt one of the best MMO's out there, and a lot more interesting than WoW, IMHO.

  • I have it and pay only $10 a month as an early adopter.I had the choice of lifetime for $200 or $10 a month...I have played them all.I really haven't played LOTRO at all in 4 months or so.Believe it or not,(laugh if you must) Everquest is the one for me.Very fond memories of that game, even though every friend I had is gone or moved on to other games, I still play everyday all by my lonesome, thinking of the old days before EQ2,WoW,LoTRO, etc...Giving EQ2 a break atm, quit WoW,resting on LoTRO, and still playing eq! LoTRO is a good game,It is just difficult playing multiple MMO's and still progress.

  • I have played a few MMORPGs, and I bought the special edition of this game but just simply... Didn't get into it, and found the game "soulless". Of course there have been a few major updates to the game by now that fixed some of the issues I had, but I don't think I'll get into the game anymore.

  • Nerf Rangers, please, and stop the chanstunning thing on trolls.
    Ooops.. wrong forum.

  • Is that the alien from 'Mac and Me?'
