World In Conflict looks amazing. Plays amazing, too, which is lucky! So it's good, good news that the PC version of the game is nearly upon us. If you're a 360 owner, though...the news is not so good. It's actually pretty awful. Sierra announced today that the game's slipped to 2008. And not just "early" 2008, "sometime" in 2008. No explanation was given for the delay, so go nuts with your own pessimistic conspiracy theories below.

Although it sucks ass that its delayed, as so far the PC version looks insane, and I would love some online gaming on LIVE with it... but with such a packed line up on ALL systems this xmas, its kinda a good thing...
This gen sure has seen a lot of delays. Guess it's to be expected though.
Now this is a first for 360.
CONFIRMED!the 360 is inadequate!
j/k.
I still have trouble imagining RTS on consoles. Since Command & Conquer Tiberium Dawn, I've always thought of RTS as something that always strives on the PC.
2008 is the new 2007!
Pardon me if I'm wrong but isn't World in Conflict already out for PC? Or does it get released later in Japan?
One more AAA game to buy in 2008. Too bad my PC can't run it or else i'd be playing it at this very moment.
aaaah! man i was looking forward to this game around christmas purchase command & conquer had some really how can i say...whack achievements and the gameplay was ok could have been better but this game looked like i could get into it...and now it has been delayed bummer.
saves me money for this year, the onslaught of 360 games is already too much. (~$600! /dies)
"PC version of the game is nearly upon us."
Huh? Did I hit a time-warp? I've been playing this for the last week. The fact Luke wrote this makes it more confusing. It was released in Aus on the 21st Sept.
They should all be playing it on PC anyway.
Yeah I got it 2 weeks ago for $40 clams at Circuit Shitty. Its still advertised for that price too if anyone is so inclined. Too bad the game makes me feel old and inadequate to play an RTS other than the Sims2... I suck at it.
RTS on console make me think of that Starcraft64.... it was baaadddd.....
@Zepultura: wow, those are some expensive clams.
@Nexus6: What are the specs? I got 2GB of RAM, an Intel Core 2 Dual CPU and integrated graphics at 312MB
@SpiceMan: I think I know. It must not be released yet in Australia.
As long as Assassin´s Creed and Mass Effect do not fall in the DELAY POOL i really won´t complain about the other games that the 360 won´t be seeing this year.
@Zepultura: Oh but that's why I love it because it doesn't make me feel totally incompetent and wasting my time at a genre I love. Even if you're awful at RTS games there's something most people will find to enjoy in multiplayer not having to worry about anything more then what their own units are doing.
@Digitalguardian: Well I am Aussie and I have been playing it for a week.
I have 2GB RAM, AMD X2 3800+ (2Ghz), and a 256mb 6800. Runs fine but I would like better-I want dual screen...
well, we (pc owners) are playing world in conflict , they (360 owners )dont...
but they will play assasin s creed before us...
they win :P
@simmo: Eh, would be nice if you already had the set up, but seeing as it takes DX10 and that it probably wouldn't make a huge difference it's nice but superfluous. On the other hand the particle effects and some of the other things that are on only in DX10 make it even smexier.
If I was the publisher I would of delayed it too.
COD4, AA: True Soldiers, MOH: Heroes2, "the new zapper", Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Brothers, LOZ: PH
= (over?) $300 worth of reasons I wouldn't buy it. Potential buy in 08 though.
This is a RTS, that I think will work on console. Theres not base building side. Only decisions about to move your units, and two menus. One to buy new units, and another one to buy tactical weapons (like artillery and stuff).
Is also a very pretty game. Maybe the most realistic game particle-engine-side of 2007.
Have decent gameplay, that can work better with teamplay.
Anyway is not my cup of tea :I
@Digitalguardian: It's been out for nearly 2 weeks in Aus now, I bought it on release for a friend.
@amusedtoe: I get where youre coming from. Some RTS I can 'do'. Like CivIV. This one however makes me feel like Im supposed to micromanage too much. For the life of me I cannot defend the Kingdome for shit. I even made a mess of the tutorials, when trying to complete them. I doubt its the game, I blame ME. Yet I keep trying.
Its either that or *gasp* Im outgrowing a 30 year video game playing era. I dont want to grow up, Im a Toys'R'Us kid. Ok ok Child World kid. Anyone else remember that store?
@donth8dre: No, no it's not.
It sure does look pretty but I'll take performance over graphics any day. Clocking in at about 33fps, high settings @ 1280x1024. System Spec - 8800GTS 640mb, Core2D 6600e, 2gig ram, RAID0 on drives with x-fi soundcard.
I think the fact that I keep confusing this game with Universe at War isn't helped any by both titles being delayed until next year. Hurrah for RTS's with generic titles!
Been out for weeks in the UK too.
'bout time you Americans were forced to wait for something rather than us :p .
Please, dont even think of buying this on a console. I can't imagine how horrible a RTS would be on analog sticks, the control totally eliminates the fun.
@rKarhu:
too late. already thought about it...HA!
