Last night when I turned on my 360 to play Call of Duty 4 there was an interesting message of the day:
EA Chicago: Infinity Ward is hiring. jobs@infinityward.com
You've heard of in-game advertising — but in-game job recruitment? It's certainly no secret that the guys at Infinity Ward aren't huge fans of EA. (They once worked on Medal of Honor and then broke away to build the first Call of Duty). Los Angeles is a long ways from Chicago, but for those EA Chicago employees not looking to relocate, Midway has nearly 30 development positions open in its Chicago office.
Thanks for the screen cap, Jon!

That is incredibly badass. Infinity ward, way to bitchslap EA again.
Medal of Honor died without you guys =)
haha nice advertising
I'll try to apply.
All mine ever says is "Welcome to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare"
Best advertising strategy ever.
@Sailorcancer: good luck failing.
Maybe the interviews will be done through game too? "Beat the training challenge in less than 16 seconds, and you're HIRED!"
That's funny, I got the message, "EA Chicago: Infinity Ward is hiring for coffee runners and part-time pinatas. jobs@infinityward.com"
I'm glad to see this, and I'm pretty sure LA is cooler than chicago anyways.
@this_is_madness: How have you not been banned yet?
@NotAZombie: banned for for saying the correct thing?
geez...what's wrong with people??
@NotAZombie:
I concur, he's getting annoying.
@Temperature:
Have you ever been to LA? I was there for four days and I wanted to burn the entire place down.
@cooldood: Not just for this post, he is trolling in just about every topic he posts in.
Infinity Ward gets a +1 rep from me.
@cooldood: You do realize he made more than 1 post right? The second one is the item of discussion.
@NotAZombie: I wonder the same myself
@Temperature: I grew up in LA and live in Chicago now... It's SOOOOO much better in the Midwest! Real weather, real people, culture, great scene. You don't know what you're missing!
Think it's less sympathy for EA then looking for former EA employees who feel the same way IW did when they left.
Be ready for the following "Infinity Ward Spins" on Fight Night and Def Jam Vendetta:
A boxing game where you can bite your opponent's ear off or "CMT Vendetta: Garth Brooks Vs Shania Twain"?
It's a cool gesture, but it would have been easier to contact the appropriate ex-EA Chicago employees if they hadn't locked them out of their computers and shut down their emails. Assuming we all play video games instead of looking for work after getting laid off :P Seems mostly a PR move.
EA Chicago was one of the best studios EA had. If I was running a development studio, I'd definitely want to headhunt some of that talent.
I saw that and had a good laugh. Other than being an awesome game, Infinity Ward is a great group of guys.
Making a great game? Millions of dollars. Having a sense of humor? Priceless.
How do you like your developers? Scrambled or 'poached' ;o)
@this_is_madness: Why would you say such a horrible thing like that? Do you know his work history or seen his portfolio? Or are you yet another dick online who wants to believe everybody must be a loser like you and would fail getting into the industry?
I do find this funny becausea former classmate who was laid off at EA Chicago just submitted an application to Infinity Ward.
Damn....thats classy.
@cooldood & KINBURN : "The correct thing"? You 2 must be 15 years old. See what I said above.
Good old Kotaku. Never fails to give a good laugh when dealing with the clueless.
Fuck! Don't tell 'em that. Now how am I supposed to get a job if I have to compete with all the EA guys?
awesome. simply awesome.
It would be like working for Jesus!
I'm more curious if they actually get responces through this...
I'm even MORE curious if they pull a family guy and start 'abusing' these messages.

@veritasvierge:
We really need threaded comments here.
Ah...you have what I wrote mistaken. I agreed with NotAZombie that THIS_IS_MADNESS is a jerk for saying SAILORCANCER will fail. COOLDOOD is a jerk also. I am not a jerk nor 15 and I agree with you how could they know they will fail when they have not seen his work. Good Luck SAILORCANCER.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. Putting this out to the public just feels a little too smarmy.
@NotAZombie: I agree.
That is epic hilarity. I wonder if they needed to close Chicago to afford Peter Moore?
@benderbendingrodriguez: I just moved to LA (to work at Infinity Ward) from Chicago and I love it. Chicago's a great city and I had a great time the three years I lived there but I'm glad I won't have to wear long underwear for two months out of the year anymore ;)
@Kinburn:
Sorry, I didn't mean that you were like those guys since you were in agreement. The way my reply came out conecrning accidentally lumped you in with that other guy.
My sceond half of my reply was towards you. (as I'm sure you've figured out by now)
I thought it was hilarious and would take working for Infinity Ward any day. Call of Duty 4 is the best game I have yet to play (multiplayer).
i dont think is a good idea to plate there jokes against other dev's.
game design studios don't live long, so in a few years we will comment the death of intinity (after a long serie of great games like COD4), and then.. what? will a EA exec public a MOTD like this one?
anyway i think LA has to have best wheater. but i am a mediterranean guy, i dont want to see snow near me :D
I think they were serious, and its a good offer. I think they were annoyed by EA's bs and feel for these guys. So awesome stuff infinity ward.
thanks so much to the Kotaku guys for being really supportive of the EA Chicago family, and that was pretty awesome of Infinity Ward as well
@Zilo Real men don't need long underwear
@this_is_madness:
Wow.
Also, it bothers me that IW is amassing an anti-EA army, but otherwise it's a verrrry good job opportunity.
What's funny is that the reason Midway has so many job openings is that they all left Midway to go to EA Chicago. Are those people going to want to go back? Unlikely. They left for a reason.
For a fairly well-developed and wealthy industry, it seems that the companies that are in it are still not above pot-shots and such. No other industry can do something like this for fear of alienating stockholders.
that is funny...but generous at the same time
@synchronicity:
Yeah that reason was money for the most part. I got a buddy who was at Midway and went to EA Chicago because the Salary package and sign on bonus to go there was ridiculous. Too bad they couldn't afford to keep their end of the bargain for longer than a year...
@Sailorcancer:
Good luck man!
By the looks of this alone, IW has a great sense of humor (and hopefully mean it as well)
I love to work for a boss with a sense of humor and one that doesn't shy away from ballsy moves like this.
I think This_is_madness forgets that the KOTAKU user base houses a lot of creative and skilled individuals. (not just 14 year old Halo 3 kids)
