While waiting anxiously last month for a chance to get my hands on Rock Band, I sat down to play a little Team Fortress 2 on the PC. TF2 is one of the man games included in the Half-Life 2 Orange Box which also includes Half-Life 2: Episode Two and Portal.
Man, what a fun game. Granted it didn't feel much better than another other really well put together PC shooter mod, but that's the thing, it really is a well put together mod. They didn't have enough maps for us for me to tell how long the game would keep my interest, but the maps I played on were tons of fun. In the first-person shooter you choose between one of several over-the-top character classes. Each class has their own selection of weapons and abilities, from the sniper's ability to take out enemies from afar to the spy's ability to camouflage himself as the other team's players.
While the game doesn't do anything that hasn't been done before, it still does it quite well and better still, it features a really neat cartoon-like look that gives the game a very distinctive feel.
