Curtis wrote in to tell us about an interview with Peter Jackson by moviegeek site Ain't It Cool News, and things are looking good for Halo.
Jackson talks about what went into selecting a director, what the effects are going to be like, how seriously he's taking the script, and how important respect for the game is going to be during production. He specifically mentions the special effects for the Flood being "hardcore" and "Lovecraftian", and then compares them to the bugs n' slugs sequence in Kong, which were the only decent special effects in the whole movie. Therefore, I approve.
There's lots of reasons to do HALO that would be attractive if you're not a HALO fan, but we didn't want any of those people, we wanted somebody who was a real HALO fan.
Unfortunately, Jackson also claims that there were no good fantasy movies before Lord of the Rings. My Lucas Alarm is starting to beep. Hopefully he'll squeeze out Halo before he really starts to take himself seriously.
