With every next-gen console announcement, the cockroaches of the business world — analysts — come scurrying out of their burrows to pick and tear at the decomposing remnants of yesterday's lunch. What do these guys do when they aren't issuing interviews to lazy journalists desperate to wring one last movement out of the empty bowels of the Playstation 3 announcement?
But we're lazy, we're covering the PS3 and we're — ha ha! — "journalists", so courtesy of Next Gen, here's a quote from Hiroshi Kamide, analyst at KBC Securities in Tokyo:
The Xbox 360 will now have had a year s head start. The danger is that they could target very big-hitting titles at the launch of the PS3 just to sabotage it. If they release Halo 3 Microsoft s biggest selling game timed to PS3, that will be quite damaging for Sony.
Of course Bill Gates did claim last year that Halo 3 may very well lie in wait for a Playstation 3 launch. And, heck, it would be a sound business move. So possibly it isn't all wistful imagineering. File it in the back of your cerebellums for now as a possibility, readers.
