According to an insider over at GameStop, a company email was sent out that said, and we quote, "Microsoft has stated that Halo 3 WILL NOT be released in 2006." Our insider thinks this is "total bull" and even asked the MSoft rep, who said he'd heard nothing along those lines. Likewise, the GameStop website still has an October 2006 Pre-Release ETA, but covers their own asses by writing, "Price, release date, content and title are subject to change and/or cancellation by vendor." Warnings like that of course are standard practice. We pinged our Microsoft contact about this and will let you know what we hear back.

Update: Heard back from MSoft, who said they did not comment on rumors. Big surprise.
